Historia
Christine was eating into his mind, burrowing into his unconscious. Christine, blood red, fat, and finned, was 20. Her promise lay all in her past. Greedy and big, she was Arnie's obsession, a '58 Plymouth Fury. Broken down but not finished. There was still power in her - a frightening power that leaked like sump oil, staining and corrupting. A malign power that corroded the mind and turned ownership into possession.

Narrator carries the book

I enjoyed it, was a bit repetitive with rotting corpses everywhere, but the narrator was incredible! The way he portrayed each character and the emotion in their voice. Wish I could give him 7 stars. Bravo.

Historia
To the children, the town was their whole world. To the adults, knowing better, Derry, Maine, was just their hometown: familiar, well ordered for the most part. A good place to live. It was the children who saw - and felt - what made Derry so horribly different. In the storm drains, in the sewers, IT lurked, taking on the shape of every nightmare, each one's deepest dread. Sometimes IT reached up, seizing, tearing, killing....

Heartwarming, endearing
Revisado: 08-07-24
I was totally surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I directed a strange, unsettling nightmare, but I found myself crying with the characters, feeling their love, their yearning. I laughed hysterically at places, especially Eddie at the doctor's. And this book has something no other SK book I read has - a proper ending.

Historia
When this best-selling autobiography was originally released, everyone was shocked: The Long Hard Road Out of Hell was the darkest, funniest, most controversial and best-selling rock book of its time - and it became the template, both visually and narratively, for almost every rock book since. Marilyn Manson is not just a music icon, it turned out, but one of the best storytellers of his generation.

Seems like a candid view or at least an explanation of what Marilyn manson is and why it is what it is. Just a pity it stops at 1998.

Historia
For most of its 5,000-year existence, China has been the largest, most populous, wealthiest, and mightiest nation on Earth. And for us as Westerners, it is essential to understand where China has been in order to anticipate its future. These 36 eye-opening lectures deliver a comprehensive political and historical overview of one of the most fascinating and complex countries in world history. You'll learn about the powerful dynasties that ruled China for centuries; the philosophical and religious foundations-particularly Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism-that have influenced every iteration of Chinese thought, and the larger-than-life personalities, from both inside and outside its borders, of those who have shaped China's history. As you listen to these lectures, you'll see how China's politics, economics, and art reflect the forces of its past. From the "Mandate of Heaven," a theory of social contract in place by 1500 B.C.E., 3,000 years before Western philosophers such as Thomas Hobbes and John Locke, to the development of agriculture and writing independent of outside influence to the technologically-advanced Han Dynasty during the time of the Roman Empire, this course takes you on a journey across ground that has been largely unexplored in the history courses most of us in the West have taken. In guiding you through the five millennia of China's history, Professor Hammond tells a fascinating story with an immense scope, a welcome reminder that China is no stranger to that stage and, indeed, has more often than not been the most extraordinary player on it.

Succinct but dated
Revisado: 02-27-24
Easy to comprehend layout of China's history, but the content is at least a quater of a century old!! There's been so much archaeological findings since, such as the role of oracle bones actually the start of writing (not out of nowhere like the lecturer claims). Genetics! The accurate movement of people can now be traced on a map, completely left out because this content is ANCIENT in itself. Pity things about Mao's rule was left out such as the fake fires to pretend industrial progress and the core fact that you were punished badly if you didn't make your impossible goals. That's the real reason the great leap failed in my opinion. Not due to over enthusiasm.
Find more modern content rather, don't listen to this.

What valuable company is nobody building? The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won't make a search engine. If you are copying these guys, you aren't learning from them. It's easier to copy a model than to make something new: doing what we already know how to do takes the world from 1 to 10, adding more of something familiar. Every new creation goes from zero to one. This book is about how to get there.

I found myself arguing with the author
Revisado: 12-11-22
I'm not a founder of a billionaire business, but there's so much I don't agree with this author. Like saying that since 1971 there was limited technological development. Equitating famous founders to scape goats. No. Founders jealously protect their empire but then they must be responsible for it. They're not innocently or nobly accepting blame. They are supposed to take the blame if the fan hits.

Late in the 26th century, the human race has advanced enough to accidentally trigger the Inhibitors---alien-killing machines designed to detect intelligent life and destroy it. The only hope for humanity lies in the recovery of a secret cache of doomsday weapons---and a renegade named Clavain who is determined to find them. But other factions want the weapons for their own purposes---and the weapons themselves have another agenda altogether.

Historia
"Call me Ishmael." Thus starts the greatest American novel. Melville said himself that he wanted to write "a mighty book about a mighty theme" and so he did. It is a story of one man's obsessive revenge-journey against the white whale, Moby-Dick, who injured him in an earlier meeting. Woven into the story of the last journey of The Pequod is a mesh of philosophy, rumination, religion, history, and a mass of information about whaling through the ages.

Deep space and time, a wonderful perspective

This book elevated my perspective above the short, localized, frantic lifespans we're used to. I enjoyed the hard science as much as the fiction.

As the work at the heart of Christianity, the Bible is the spiritual guide for one out of every three people in the world. It is also the world's most widely distributed book, having been translated into over 2,000 languages, as well as the world's best-selling book, year after year. But the Bible is a complex work with a complicated and obscure history.

I did learn a lot, but the delivery is very monotonous its difficult to distinguish disparate concepts. I think they used a text to speech synthesizer.
