Historia
Years before the name Alex Murdaugh was splashed across every major media outlet in America, local South Carolina journalist Mandy Matney had an instinct that something wasn’t right in the Lowcountry. The powerful Murdaugh dynasty had dominated rural South Carolina for generations. No one dared to cross them.

A complete waste I ended up skipping through a lot of it because I could no longer stand hearing the author complain about old white people. I ordered this because it is supposed to be about the well publicized murders and corruption but it is not. More woke trash ! Don’t waist your money .

Historia
In this extraordinary work, Beth Macy takes us into the epicenter of a national drama that has unfolded over two decades. From the labs and marketing departments of big pharma to local doctor's offices; wealthy suburbs to distressed small communities in Central Appalachia; from distant cities to once-idyllic farm towns; the spread of opioid addiction follows a tortuous trajectory that illustrates how this crisis has persisted for so long and become so firmly entrenched.

Useful, but recommend Dreamland instead

Don’t recommend
Revisado: 09-05-23
It could have been good if the author had not turned it into her own political views. She goes on and on blaming the Trump administration but says nothing about Obama who was in charge throughout the majority of this epidemic and did nothing. More about pushing agendas than actual facts.

Historia
No Campus for White Men shines a bright light on the growing obsession with diversity, victimization, and identity politics on today's college campuses, and shows how it is creating an intensely hostile and fearful atmosphere that can only lead, ultimately, to ever greater polarization in American society.

Historia
Looting - a crowd of people publicly, openly, and directly seizing goods - is one of the more extreme actions that can take place in the midst of social unrest. Even self-identified radicals distance themselves from looters, fearing that violent tactics reflect badly on the broader movement. But Vicky Osterweil argues that stealing goods and destroying property are direct, pragmatic strategies of wealth redistribution and improving life for the working class - not to mention the brazen messages these methods send to the police and the state.

Pathetic attempt to justify and glorify looting.
Revisado: 01-13-23
Poorly written . The goal was obviously to not only justify but to glorify looting, burning, harming, and destroying businesses along with the lives of innocent people to make a political statement , however a large majority of these “social Justice warriors” aka rioters took part in looting because the opportunity presented itself. It’s a waste of time and money but the outrageous claims regarding historical times and events will make you laugh at loud at times . It’s sole purpose is to push an agenda .

Excellent book a must read.
Revisado: 03-31-18
Factual well written story of the time leading up to the 911 attacks and the breakdown of communication between two branches of our government who put their egos and childish rivalries ahead of the job they were sworn to do therefore missing several opportunities that could and would have changed everything.
