I frequent a community where the author is very active. Matthew is a great person to chat with and is always kind to everyone. Having purchased a few of his books I received this short for free. I was expecting a sadder story than usual going by the description. However, I broke down into tears. Surprising for such a short story to have such a large impact. I’d rate it 5 stars, but it left me feeling really sad. I don’t always expect things to end happily, but this is just really different somehow.

Boys Life is one of the best books I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to. The narration is perfect and the story is amazing. The author has a way of really placing you in a certain time and place and gives it authority and meaning through his story narrative and storytelling. It reminds me of all the best and worst parts of being a kid, and overall makes me feel something that I will remember long afterward.

I greatly enjoyed the world created and found the creatures and beauty of the world a nice distraction from its more serious elements. I’ve read multiple books by this author and I have noticed that someone’s enjoyment of one of his books can come down to the books final pages, The author enjoys writing the unexpected, which can at times be jarring, however it can also be a very effective narrative tool and memorable. The narrator was wonderful, her voice was great and she really made the characters distinct. The accent was spot on for this type of story. I hope to see more books in this world.

I wished, overall that they released much longer versions of these. I am a huge fan of the podcasts but they are nearly impossible to find recently, and while these are great clips I would love to see more. Great for a short drive, as funny as always, but could use more time.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant,I think that Karl Pilkington is absolutely delightful, overall I found the clips hilarious. Would love to have the entire series on here for long trips, or just to hear them again. If only to hear more of Karl’s odd and strangely interesting look at life and his absurd storytelling.

The story starts off as an interesting supernatural mystery about a young man who is forced to make a decision to take or leave the entire population of the word with him when he dies in 7 days. From there, the story goes into very heavy territory from everything to war, murder, and all the ways we are terrible to each other. It takes what should be an obvious answer and goes deeply into a story that can be very dark, but Is still full of beauty and life. A surprising life affirming story, I received this code for free, would still highly recommend as the story is beautifully told and narrated.

As a hugely introverted person, I really appreciated that this audiobook does not try and change you or attempt to show-horn you into being more extroverted. Instead, it accomplishes many different aspects of networking, such as small talk, business relationships, and other aspects of life that introverts may struggle with while affirming that it is perfectly alright to be an introvert. Great tips throughout and definitely thoughts and ideas that could make my own life better as someone who is terrible at networking and looking to improve.

While going into the audiobook I expected a fun trip adventure, something fun to listen to while on the road. What I experienced was something that I felt was very moving and emotional. While the story takes its time setting up, once the two main characters begin their journey I was completely hooked. I planned on splitting this up into two hour chunks but ended up finishing it in two days. The characters are extremely relatable and if someone told me that this was nonfiction I could easily believe it. The story does not fall into the trappings of ridiculous events even when it has its more lighthearted or humorous beats. The emotional impact of the story of two lost dreamers looking for their place in the world was something that caught me completely by surprise and left me in tears near the end. The narration did not seem to fit the story as the main character was not detailed as having an accent but as it went on I felt that it was beautiful. The narrator had such a warmth and harmony to her voice that I was entranced throughout the journey. As an overall package, this is easily one of the best books I have listened to this year and gets my first audible review ever.
