Historia
Mark Twain founded the American voice. His works are a living national treasury: taught, quoted, and reprinted more than those of any writer except Shakespeare. His awestruck contemporaries saw him as the representative figure of his times, and his influence has deeply flavored the 20th and 21st centuries.

Boring
Revisado: 01-11-06
I am a huge Mark Twain fan. I was eagerly anticipating reading this biography. As I listened, I didn't become engrossed, but I became completely bored. Actually reading the book instead of listening to this narrative might have produced better results. Very disappointing.

Historia
Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

Pure Magic!
Revisado: 12-01-05
Maguire fills in all the blanks, answers all the questions, and steps up to the plate for all those who wanted to know all of the "why's" to all those unanswered questions in The Wizard of Oz. Maguire skillfully winds the tale of yellow brick road making it difficult to do anything but focus 110% of this skillfully written tale.
Contrary to one recent review, this is a tale that NO ONE should skip the opportunity to read and become thoroughly immersed.

An emotionally gripping story...
Revisado: 11-30-05
Skillfully written, deeply emotional, and well worth my time. Very eye opening and exquistely eye-opening. This story unlike anything I had read or heard, but now in retrospect, I am very appreciative of the opportunity to have come across this marvellously written piece of work.

What a glorious accident to find this book...
Revisado: 11-28-05
As a white woman who decided to read and learn more about black history, the finding of this book was purely accidental, but couldn't have been more appropriate. At first I thought I was going to find this tedious, but once I gave in to giving this timeless piece work a fair chance, I was engrossed. I learned much and my perspective was broadened immensely. After further investigation, this book is often used in the academic setting. After experiencing this incredible tale of a timeless social experiment, I feel it should be mandatory reading in the academic setting. Absolutely breathtaking and I have not remorse for experiencing this book. Conversely I have an enormous gratitutde for the opportunity to experience this marvelous piece of literary work.

A must for anyone...
Revisado: 11-21-05
What an amazing telling of a depiction in our country's history. The writer makes the story come alive by changing words on a page to words that dance in your head as you read/hear the story. This writer is extremely talented and I am happy that I accidentally happened upon this marvelous piece of work.
