Historia

Vain and shallow, the biggest blot on his horizon is having to get out of bed in the morning to train with obsessive and boring old men.

In the shadow of Westeros?
Revisado: 05-20-12
What made the experience of listening to The Blade Itself the most enjoyable?
The Blade Itself has all of the trappings of a fantasy novel you could possibly ask for. While some may feel this makes the book seem derivative of fantasy titans such as Tolkien and Martin, I felt Abercrombie built a fully realised and original world that allowed you to enjoy the comfort of familiar fantasy troupes.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The cookie cutter nature of the characters is perhaps one of the weaker points of the novel. Glokta is perhaps the most orignal character as is the whole idea of an inquisition in a fantasy world. I also like the manner in which he struggles to find his own moral compass as opposed to being a 'good guy' or 'bad guy'.
What three words best describe Steven Pacey’s voice?
Serviceable, satisfactory, fine.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The balde is just the beginning.
Any additional comments?
Certainly a good set up for the series. I have already downloaded the second installment.

What if you could go back in time and change the course of history?11.22.63, the date that Kennedy was shot - unless.... King takes his protagonist Jake Epping, a high school English teacher from Lisbon Falls, Maine, 2011, on a fascinating journey back to 1958 - from a world of mobile phones and iPods to a new world of Elvis and JFK, of Plymouth Fury cars and Lindy Hopping, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill who becomes the love of Jake's life.

This converted me to audiobooks
Revisado: 04-19-12
Where does 11.22.63 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This performance is the very reason you want to listen to audiobooks. Craig Wasson's performance takes one of Kings better tales to a new height that I would not have enjoyed without his performance.
What was one of the most memorable moments of 11.22.63?
The "watershed moment" when our hero is face to face with Oswald fully delivers on the investment you have made in the book.
What does Craig Wasson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Craig Wasson reads one of the more harrowing scenes in the book almost as if he is on the verge of tears, you'll be right there with him.
The way in which Wasson has developed the characters voices in this reading is pitch perfect.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were several high points in this book that would be unfair to those who have ont read it to detail in this review. This book may not be a horror story but it is King on top form.

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Anathem, Neal Stephenson is continually rocking the literary world with his brazen and brilliant fictional creations - whether he’s reimagining the past (The Baroque Cycle), inventing the future (Snow Crash), or both (Cryptonomicon).

Get lost in Stephenson's epic
Revisado: 03-07-12
What made the experience of listening to Reamde the most enjoyable?
Reamde blends a Neal Stephenson sci-fi with a Tom Clancy thriller to great effect. The sprawling, globe trotting plot really carries you along. Rarely does over one thousand pages pass so quickly.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Reamde?
The whole Chinese episode in Reamde stands out as a highlight. Although I did love taking the tips to T'Rain.
What three words best describe Malcolm Hillgartner’s voice?
Unfortunately Malcolm Hillgartner's narration is not terribly varied. He does a fine job but could have defined each of the characters more fully.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It's a book to eat up in big greedy chunks but certainly not one to get through in a single sitting.

Historia
In 1886, a mysterious travelling circus becomes an international sensation. Open only at night, constructed entirely in black and white, Le Cirque des Rêves delights all who wander its circular paths and warm themselves at its bonfire. Although there are acrobats, fortune-tellers and contortionists, the Circus of Dreams is no conventional spectacle. Some tents contain clouds, some ice.

A poor tale nicely read
Revisado: 01-17-12
Would you try another book from Erin Morgenstern and/or Jim Dale?
Jim Dales reading was excellent. The novel failed to deliver on the expectations it set.
What could Erin Morgenstern have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Delivered on the promise of the novel. The reader is kept waiting for some sort of resolution, instead we are literally presented with a whole passage on how there are no longer any good stories (or are there).
Have you listened to any of Jim Dale’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Was The Night Circus worth the listening time?
No
