Brené Brown has spent the past two decades studying the emotions and experiences that give meaning to our lives, and the past seven years working with transformative leaders and teams spanning the globe. She found that leaders in organizations ranging from small entrepreneurial startups and family-owned businesses to nonprofits, civic organizations, and Fortune 50 companies all ask the same question: How do you cultivate braver, more daring leaders, and how do you embed the value of courage in your culture? This audiobook answers this question.

Historia
In 2013, Alicia Garza wrote what she called “a love letter to Black people” on Facebook, in the aftermath of the acquittal of the man who murdered seventeen-year-old Trayvon Martin. Garza wrote: Black people. I love you. I love us. Our lives matter. With the speed and networking capacities of social media, #BlackLivesMatter became the hashtag heard ’round the world. But Garza knew even then that hashtags don’t start movements - people do.

Even better than the first book!

Exciting start to finish but still explores the characters ‘ psyches. Listened to the audiobook and the reader was excellent, generally, but some of her female voices were irritating.

Loved the Spell man's but this...no.
Revisado: 09-04-16
Lutz's Spellman's, with all their quirks and foibles, are lovable and relatable so I was eager to read her latest endeavor. This novel's heroine was not relatable and certainly not lovable. Her thoughts and feelings about herself and others are unfathomable, which creates distance between reader and protagonist. For example, the man she ends up with at the end of the novel is a creepy stalker (cop or no). Making bad worse, the narrator used an excruciatingly slow, low whispery voice for all but the protagonist, which served to compound the reader's sense of alienation; all but the main character sounded mentally challenged and, well, just weird. I would have simply sped up the recording, but the protagonist's dialogue and non-dialogue were spoken at regular speed. Totally disappointing.

Very entertaining but...
Revisado: 05-16-16
I've now read Swain's two Cunningham novels and found them both entertaining and even enlightening. However, as an African American reader, my enjoyment is marred by the lack of multidimensional sympathetic black characters (in fact, all of the black characters are monstrous, which is disturbing). If this doesn't bother you then you'll probably find the novel a fun ride. However, this was my last Swain book.

Historia
Ellen O’Farrell is a professional hypnotherapist who works out of the eccentric beachfront home she inherited from her grandparents. It’s a nice life, except for her tumultuous relationship history. She’s stoic about it, but at this point, Ellen wouldn’t mind a lasting one. When she meets Patrick, she’s optimistic. He’s attractive, single, employed, and best of all, he seems to like her back. Then comes that dreaded moment: He thinks they should have a talk. Braced for the worst, Ellen is pleasantly surprised.

Well written, engaging, real.
Revisado: 05-15-15
As usual, all of Liane Moriarty's characters are blessed, to varying degrees, with superior traits and embarrassing defects that made me cringe and chuckle with rueful recognition. I very much enjoyed the book and loved the narrator's voice and pace.
