Interesting Read
Revisado: 11-21-16
What did you love best about Will There Be Watermelons on Mars??
I thought it was told in an interesting manner through a series of vignettes. I don't usually listen to or read science fiction books. But, I found I really enjoyed this one. It was a quick listen and I found that I was invested in each section of the story. Though it's short, there was still plenty of character development. If, like me, you do not usually find yourself reading books like this, give it a try anyway.

Wonderful!
Revisado: 06-07-16
What made the experience of listening to King Arthur: History and Legend the most enjoyable?
I really enjoyed the lecture style of Professor Armstrong. She clearly knows the material. I feel she wanted the lectures to come across as accessible to a wide range of people, from those with a little interest in the legend to Arthurian scholars. Her style was well balanced so that she never came off as stuffy and boring nor insincere. I have listened to several series from The Great Courses. Some of them lost my interest because of the professor's approach. While they were all good, I didn't always want to feel like I was back in college sitting in a lecture hall. I enjoyed this series while out for a walk with my dog or driving in the car. I learned a lot of information I didn't already know. I'm not even what you would call a fan of the legend, but I found the series intriguing. I also liked how she spanned many aspects of the legend, from early literature to factual evidence to the legend's lasting impact today. In fact, I'm currently reading The Mists of Avalon because of its inclusion in this lecture series. I'm already on book three and am enjoying it greatly!

Disappointing

Any additional comments?
This is a rare occasion where I actually learned of the book after watching the tv show, now in its second season. There were some very interesting developments on the show. So, I decided to read the book to perhaps gain some insight as to what may be going on in the show. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was that the show is so much better than the book. Of course there are some differences, which I expected. But, the cast of main characters is so much smaller in the book. The intrigue in the show was not present in the book. Here's the kicker...you never find out why or how the returned came back. To me, that was a cop out. The story built up to the climax, but we never really got a full resolution. This is the first time in my life that a book was not as well developed as a movie or show.
The narrator did a nice job, and there were some very interesting story ideas in the book. But, it seemed like the author just decided to stop writing and threw in an author's note to explain some reasons why, without coming right out and saying that's what he was doing.
I wanted to like the book, and I was excited to read it. But, it was a disappointment.

Fitting Closing to the Series
Revisado: 10-30-13
Would you listen to Allegiant again? Why?
Yes, I would listen again. I enjoyed the story and the narrators' portrayal of Tris and Four.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Tris is my favorite character. But, she's probably most people's favorite character. So, I will say that Tobias was my favorite. Roth's words brought his inner self to light, but the narrator brought him to life.
What does Emma Galvin and Aaron Stanford bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Both narrators embody the characters' personality, emotion, and inner struggles with their portrayals.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A gripping conclusion.
