Historia
Problem Child is the unbelievably true story of Terrell Carter, an American musician and actor who grew up in Buffalo, New York, in a dysfunctional family, each member crazier than the next. And the Problem Child is the only one in the story who may, or may not, actually have a problem. An emotional journey of trials and revelations, with a huge secret at its core, this story may force you to laugh - just to keep from crying.

Rough life that lifts you up
Revisado: 03-11-25
At times it was tough to listen to his story. The story of a dysfunctional family that struggles to survive. It shows that the human spirit can be successful in spite of horrible circumstances.

Mesmerizing
Revisado: 09-20-24
The fictional fantasy of a slave boy, 47, was an intensely enthralling narrative of courage, belief, and determination. Walter Mosley managed to take this utterly depressing subject, slavery, to a place of realized promises. You will come away acknowledging that hope, endurance, and resolve will allow you to achieve your seemly impossible goals. I give two thumbs up for this book!

Historia
January 1970 finds Ezekiel “Easy” Rawlins, LA’s premier Black detective, at 50 years of age despite all expectations. He has a loving family, a beautiful home, and a thriving investigation agency. All is right with the world… and then Amethystine Stoller, his own personal Helen of Troy, arrives. Her ex-husband is missing. A simple enough case. But even as Easy takes his first step in the investigation he trips. He falls into the memory of things past. Little things, like loss, love, a world war, and a hunger that has eaten at him since he was a Black boy on his own.

Complicated
Revisado: 06-27-24
Several situations going on at once for Easy Rawlings. While this may not be unusual for him, it seemed more complicated. It was nice to hear Easy talk about familiar characters, Mofat, Jackson Blue and Mouse. But what happed to Etta? Mouses previous woman? I enjoyed this novel.

Historia
John Hope Franklin lived through America's most defining twentieth-century transformation, the dismantling of legally-protected racial segregation. A renowned scholar, he has explored that transformation in its myriad aspects, notably in his 3.5 million-copy bestseller, From Slavery to Freedom. And he was, and remains, an active participant. Intimate, at times revelatory, Mirror to America chronicles Franklin's life and this nation's racial transformation in the 20th century.

The twist and turns in this novel are unpredictable! I read a lot. I can usually predict what is about to happen. Not here! As soon as you think you’ve got it figured out, it flips. It kept me interested and thinking.

Historia
"Unvarnished. Funny. Leaving no stone unturned"...So say the publishers about this audiobook I've written. What I say is that this is the story of my life, told as clear as a Texas sky and in the same rhythm that I lived it. It's a story of restlessness and the purity of the moment and living right. Of my childhood in Abbott, Texas, to the Pacific Northwest, from Nashville to Hawaii, and all the way back again. Of selling vacuum cleaners and encyclopedias while hosting radio shows and writing song after song, hoping to strike gold.

America today is teetering on the edge of the alarming vision presented in LeVar Burton’s debut novel, written more than two decades ago. In 2012, the first African American president is assassinated by a White extremist - just four days after he is elected. The horrific tragedy leads to riots, financial collapse, and ultimately, a full-on civil war. In its aftermath, millions are left homeless as famine and disease spread throughout the country. But from Chicago, a mysterious voice cries out.

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.
