Historia
In the year 1012, England’s Norman-born Queen Emma has been ten years wed to an aging, ruthless, haunted King Æthelred. The marriage is a bitterly unhappy one, between a queen who seeks to create her own sphere of influence within the court and a suspicious king who eyes her efforts with hostility and resentment. But royal discord shifts to grudging alliance when Cnut of Denmark, with the secret collusion of his English concubine Elgiva, invades England at the head of a massive viking army.

Good story
Revisado: 10-20-18
While I loved the story, I struggled desperately listening to the narrator. Happy to keep the memory of Boudeca alive. She truly was a strong woman. Although I book is a work of fiction, I believe the author held true to what is known about Boudeca.

Historia
Reese Witherspoon’s grandmother Dorothea always said a combination of beauty and strength made Southern women “whiskey in a teacup”. We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside, we’re strong and fiery. Reese’s Southern heritage informs her whole life, and she loves sharing the joys of Southern living with practically everyone she meets. She takes the South wherever she goes with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken.

It is refreshing to hear a book read by the author. Reese makes you feel as though you could be best friends with her as she shares stories from her childhood, her beliefs and her triumphs. She seems very down to earth and well grounded.

Ceridwen
Revisado: 02-08-17
If you could sum up The Circle of Ceridwen in three words, what would they be?
What a wonderful tale! I enjoyed this story so much! The audio version of The Circle of Ceridwen is performed very well by Nano Nagle. I found myself enthralled; needing to know what would happen in the next chapter and voraciously listened to this book every spare moment I had! Octavia Randolph’s Ceridwen is a wonderful heroine – brave to a fault, spirited but sensible as well. This very determined young woman knows her mind and has very strong convictions and is wise beyond her years. It is a well written story that will transport you back to the 9th century with details so vivid you feel as though you are traveling with the characters, feeling their joys, sorrows, and you will lose yourself in the telling of this tale. Highly recommend this read/listen!
