HYPOCRITICAL WRITING
Revisado: 07-02-23
Perhaps I'm so evolved and already "do the work" why this book seemed so basic to me. I read it months ago and am just getting around to saying the main thing I walked away with is how unqualified some ppl are to give advice. A degree in Psuch is 1 thing... HAVNIG WISDOM IS ANOTHER. The main story I recall to this day is her saying TDJakes asked her to speak at a conference and she was gonna say no b/c it was too sort notice and she had to watch the kids. THAT statement alone spoke volumes about how much she herself perpetuates so many of the issues going on in the Black family. Ma'am, if you're married and have such a great opportunity, YOUR SPOUSE IS SUPPOSED TO KNOW he's on Daddy Duty for the next few days til you can kick out your lil speech for the conference. For the thought to even cross your mind that you'd have to pass on thiss is a CLEAR sign that YOU allow an imbalance of parenting and responsibilities to go on in your own house, yet you're giving advice to other women who undoubtedly need help in that area?????? There is NO WAY my Dad or anyone I allow in my Life would NOT know it is expected of them to pick up the slack for a few days AND DO THEIR JOB AS A PARENT so I can walk in what may be an opportunity of a lifetime that helps the entire family!!!!!
Other things like that came up here and there in the book that made me reduce her to a degree-holder who lacks wisdom. I wouldn't listen to any seminar she gives. She seems very much like a "Yes" woman/ pick-me and has alotta work to do on her 2nd and 5th chakras. No role model for me. Sorry.

A Unique Thriller!
Revisado: 05-15-23
I've heard ppl call me a goody2shoes, a nerd, and comment "you're so ethical". My background is in legal and I try to do what's right regardless if any (human) is watching or not. THAT said, the logic presented by one of the characters regarding this obviously egregious slave encampment challenged even my morals. The book was a page-turner. Even when I was trying to sleep, I kept trying to push through. Once the climax began, it almost never ended.
The only annoying aspect was the main character trying to figure out what was more important: saving Party A or Party B. I won't say who Parties A and B are and give up a spoiler. But yeah, it was very different in how other thrillers I've read evolve. It seemed like such a casual, professional tone throughout, you never sensed the danger int he story until the end. And once you did, your heart will begin to race.
Good book. 4.5 star rating from me.

As Christians, we often struggle to find the words to speak in the presence of God. Praying to God may feel foreign or like a ritual, and adding to that frustration, we worry that God isn't listening. Even if he hears, will he reply? This book will show you that God not only listens but also answers. He is waiting to provide an outpouring of blessings, if only you will ask him. God wants you to be a prayer warrior and will help you.

Good But Mainly for Beginners
Revisado: 07-07-20
With such high reviews, I thought this would be another level type of prayer book. It's garnered many high reviews, which is a sad indicator to me that soooo many ppl don't know the basics of prayer. You know the Scripture that says "This type comes out by prayer and fasting alone".... I thought it would've taught how to produce those heavy-duty prayers for heavy-duty situations. Nonetheless, it's a pretty decent overview covering several areas of prayer. I think I was looking more so for prayer books that discuss concepts like the watches of the night, strongholds, and warfare strategy against the devil. I don't think he used the term devil once in the entire book, which is crazy cuz the Bible is very clear that we are in a war against an enemy called Satan, so why not mention ho to pray against him in this entire book??????? o_0

COMPLETELY Misleading. Utter TRASH!!!
Revisado: 07-05-20
The title of this book is EXTREMELY misleading. There's nothing "spiritual" about it and the author strings you along with concepts with the ultimate objective of telling you that there is NO God. She tells us that there are no such thing as feelings when removing the concept of emotions removes all the joys life has to offer. The book is blasphemous by the measure of all mainstream religions (Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Hindu, etc) and because I like finishing books I start, I kept dredging through. But it was a waste of time. She states things that are simply untrue like "we are everywhere" when that's impossible, states there is no such thing as good or bad, which is also untrue. Otherwise rapists and child molesters would also be just as good as Mother Theresa.
No true nuggets to absorb. Not one single thing mentioned about emotional or spiritual healing. I'm saying this as someone who has red other works on ego death.
No--- This book is just a NO No NO.

What a WASTE of Time!
Revisado: 06-01-20
My heavens, where do I begin??? I should've known after the first 5 mins that a book where the author writes "immatureness" instead of "immaturity" would be an epic FAIL. Another example was "I'll soap myself" instead of "I'll wash my hands"...... Narrator's voice over time is irksome. Learned NOTHING.
This book does not reveal or inform the reader about anything past a high schooler's knowledge. Very basic and obvious info. It does NOT provide ANY information for who the book title implies it's for: the child of the abused. The first 75% of the book is background info and the last chapters with supposed "solutions" are written for TEACHERS who notice abused children and from a textbook perspective, like how to train pp entering the field of social services. TOTALLY DECEIVING DESCRIPTION.
AGAIN, IF YOU ARE A TEEN OR ADULT WHO GREW UP WITH EMOTIONALLY NEGLECTFUL PARENTS, this book is NOT for you.

Don’t you think you are mature enough to recognize how your narcissistic mother is still affecting your life, get her out of your head, and become who you really are? I think, then, this book might help. I know you don’t need another book filled in with useless information. You just want to heal.

GREAT But Author Has Narc Tendencies Herself!
Revisado: 05-08-20
Good points: It's a relatively quick read, packed w/ an appropriate ratio of background on narc, the signs, and self-help tips.
However, on a couple occasions throughout the book, she literally STOPS you, tells you to go leave a review, while you're learning how to heal.... It was EXTREEEEEEMELY off-putting the first time and mind-boggling when she did it again. As someone who has had a controlling narc as a mother, her badgering us for a review at the MOST inopportune time was VERY reminiscent of the same narc behavior we grew up with. She of all ppl should know that.

I Don’t Want to Be an Empath Anymore is a gift for the jaded empath searching for authenticity in spirituality, and spirituality in being authentic - something beyond the clichéd, positive affirmations that seem to invalidate our anger, sadness, and pain. When we feel broken - and when real damage has been done, it’s not always helpful to ignore our feelings and tell ourselves that we are perfect and whole.

Good Gosh This Book is OVERrated
Revisado: 04-25-20
So, those of us who are Seekers and have been "led" to this book are in the loop on certain concepts... Doe she bring up a good point? YES... But the whooooole book to emphasize ONE point via a zillion personal, subjective situations was OVERDOSE. I literally had my head in my head at certain points and played it a 2x speed past the halfway mark. Honestly, this book could've been more effective with a 60% decrease in length. If you read the following sentence, you won't need to listen to this lonnnnnnnnng, drawn out book:
"Choose to go with the flow of Life and don't resist whichever path it may take you". -The End.
