Historia
The world of Faerie never disappeared: it merely went into hiding, continuing to exist parallel to our own. Secrecy is the key to Faerie’s survival—but no secret can be kept forever, and when the fae and mortal worlds collide, changelings are born. Half-human, half-fae, outsiders from birth, these second-class children of Faerie spend their lives fighting for the respect of their immortal relations.

Great book/series, Amateurish Bordering Racist Narration
Revisado: 07-17-23
I adore this series! This is an excellent author. This narration nearly ruined a “reread” for me. Many of my favorite characters are cringe-worthy with this reader - from The King of Cats (his dialogue is so painstakingly slow and over-acted that you cannot wait for him to get out of the scene, he was 100% intolerable and also somehow a bit boring, which was the opposite of how he is portrayed in the book when I read it in text form). There is a girl with an accent and while I was listening to this in the car I had someone ask me to turn it off because they found it wildly offensive - for the record I do as well but this is one of my all-time favorite authors so I read on anyway. This is one of the biggest bummers of the summer for me because I’d planned to pick up every book in the series on audiobook for several huge road trips and now I’m pretty sure I can’t suffer through this narrator anymore. Also I’m driving with others and I’m too embarrassed about the racist accents (which also don’t even sound like what they’re meant to be in some cases). Didn’t have the heart to kill the overall review score because the novel is awesome.

Cozy “Background” Book
Revisado: 11-29-22
Story was cozy and had a great academic aesthetic. Romance elements slow-burn and the mystery was a success. The cozy feel of the book meant I didn’t feel it ramped up the way a five star book would - but it was also exactly what I wanted and expected when I bought! 4.5 overall, and what you see in the description is absolutely what you get (in a good way). I love playing books in the bath or in the background as I clean or drive and this was a charmer.

Magnificent
Revisado: 09-15-22
Be ready for a long book, but Priory is masterful and delivers as much in this book (well-paced, by the way) as some fantasy novel series in their entirety. This writing far outstrips many other up and comers in the genre. If you are looking for a novel in a world that is a little heartier and broader than most fast-fantasy novels (maybe something with more substance to their fantasy world/magic/politics/myths than a Sarah J Maas and more old-school fantasy than Scholomance) I highly recommend. The voice actress is stunning. Every new accent is marvelous and I could listen to her for days on end. A book this long needs a magnificent voice actor, and they found one. I listened to this nonstop for a week and every time I turned it on I was thrilled to have found a fantasy author on this level.
