One of the best books of the year

This book is a wonderful portrayal of human nature with all its flaws and perfections. Frank and Maggie have been married for 40 years. This book walks us through those 40 years from each persons perspective. Frank speaks first and he is absolutely a person I would love to meet. He has several advanced degrees but is very insecure when it comes to human interactions (maybe not so surprising). Then he meets Maggie, the exact opposite, very gregarious and fun loving.
It's heart warming to hear each persons take on the various stages of their marriage and how very much they are alike in their insecurities.
The narrators were excellent in bringing each character to life. Their voices made the stories feel more real and compelling.
I absolutely recommend this book.

I am not a big fan of cozy mysteries but I found this one very well written and the plot was interesting. Holly and Sheriff Gray are realistic characters and I can't wait to see how their 'friendship' progresses. I found the other characters, Holly's mother and father and Cookie added a lot of fun to the story line. The ending was unexpected, which is always nice.

I really enjoyed this book. The narrators did a wonderful job bringing out the personalities of their individual characters. I particularly liked Essie and Charles. The development of their relationship was predictable but written tastefully. This story spans from early 1900's to the 1980's and I found the evolution of the Auerbach family very interesting.

This is a great story but the narration brings the characters to life. Emma is very determined to make her own way in the world even to the point of insisting on splitting all expenses (including dinner) when on dates. Marcus, being the alpha billionaire, is not used to allowing his date to pay. All in all this enhances the chemistry between them. Marcus is not used to losing and Emma is giving him a run. Then we add the cats, 3 persians with great personalities.
This is my first book narrated by Ava Erickson and she did a great job with Emma. Sebastian York is one of my favorite narrators and I look for his books.

I have become engrossed in this series and can't wait to read/listen to the next book. I do find Maggie quite aggravating, however. She blames Ted for the demise of their relationship but I believe she is just as culpable (if not more so) than Ted. I just had to get that off my chest.
The way the team works together to get their mission completed and problem solve is an example of how we all should cooperate with each other. I realize that this is fiction but wouldn't it be nice to live in a world where everyone is treated with respect and worked together?

First off, Sarah Mollo-Christensen is one of my favorite narrators. Her way of reading, the inflections in her voice are just perfect.
This story is mesmerizing. I got pulled into Quinn's life from the first chapter and had trouble putting it down. There are so many nuances to Quinn's story that are all woven together perfectly. Getting a glimpse into the Hawaiian culture was a bonus. It is a story about psychological abuse in a relationship and understanding about her heritage (which was a total surprise). This was all told with no swearing or graphic sex.
I most certainly will look for more books by Kay Bratt.

Performance made the story

It took the whole book to understand the meaning of the story. I started out reading on my Kindle and switched to Audible which made the story so much more meaningful. Tavia Gilbert's performance of Frank greatly enhanced the story. Just reading the words it isn't obvious that Frank is on the spectrum...sure his mannerisms and quirky dress hint at this but listening to the performance just made it more real. I have never been lucky to interact with someone like Frank so it made me more appreciative of the difficulty in dealing with this but also how hurtful it is to someone on the spectrum because they don't understand why other people (kids) treat them badly.
Kudos to the author for all the research that went into this book as it relates to the history of movies, actors and the LA area. It was quite informative to listen to Frank try to enlighten Alice to all things old Hollywood.
Mimi is harder to understand. I never fully understood why she was so mean to Alice. I didn't find her likeable nor did I particularly like Xander. Xander came in and out of the story which baffled Frank and complicated his life unnecessarily.
As a whole the book is an interesting read but made so much better by Tavia Gilbert's performance.

I just finished this book and am sad to see it end. At times it was side splitting funny and immensely sad. I just couldn't get over what people will confess to if they think that the person can't hear/understand them. Then when the person 'wakes up' how terrified they are that their secrets will come out. It is a very long book but so worth every minute. The narrator was excellent at the different voices/people and very consistent throughout the book. She brought to life every character and made the book more enjoyable. I am glad that I waited until the series ended because I don't have the patience to follow a daily serial. I am going to definitely look into Stephanie Bond's other books.

All of the characters were well developed and interesting. I absolutely loved Emerson and Samson. I was so invested in this story that I was sad to get to the end. The relationship between Darcy and her mother was complicated but Darcy just wouldn't give up. Great story. I will look for more from this author and narrator.

Lauren Blakely is one of my favorite authors of romantic comedy. Every time I think I have read her best yet I am amazed to find another one that I like just as much if not more. This book falls into the best ever category. I was sad to see the story end. The title, Never have I ever, was woven throughout the whole book with all the main characters. I highly recommend this book.
