Good story line, but female lead was so irritating

This book has a good story, but I found the female lead so irritating and annoying. Maybe it's due to the fact that she comes from a higher social status. I am going to sound like a snob, but I just couldn't relate to someone who has had life so easy financially. She clearly is used to the finer things in life and was easily able to shrug off her apartment, being blown up and other dangers coming into her life. I am used to books about tough and often street smart women from this author and found that I really disliked a socialite as the lead. The fact that she was able to talk the male lead into getting her into dangerous situations by basically batting her eyes when he knew better and he seemed to overlook her personality because she had a great body was annoying to me. I am not saying that someone else will not enjoy this book, but it was not for me.

I really wanted to finish this book, but after the 8th chapter, I just couldn't take it anymore and gave up. I really like this author and enjoy most of her other series, but I will be skipping this one.

Another great book in the series!

Great book! I love this series and this book fit right in. It was written well, showing the growth of the established characters and introduced new info about newer characters. At the same time it made you feel nice and welcome to be visiting your friends in South Cove again.

I love books like this! Only one problem, I am greedy and want more. This is a sign of a good, no great author. Keep up the good work, Lynn Cahoon!!!

Great romance box set!

This is a really great box set, fans of shifter romances will love it. The stories were well written and the narration was good. I only have 1 tiny complaint, which is probably me being nit picky. There were 5 stories, but there was no real break in between stories, it just flowed right into the next story. It would have been nice if it told you that you were on the 2nd story or if there was maybe a 15 or 20 second break in between the stories so you could have some separation instead of it saying the last word of one story and then moving onto the title of the next story in the same breath. But like I said, that is a me problem, the book was great and I really enjoy the author.

A complaint for audible, though. The only way I could write this review was on my cell phone. It has taken me over 20 minutes because I keep misspelling words. I have tried 5 times to do a review on my computer on audible's web site and it won't let me. Audible you would get a lot more reviews if you allowed people to do reviews from a computer rather than your app on a cell phone. This same review would have taken me less than 5 minutes on my computer, it took me 4 times longer on my phone. Maybe this is something that you should fix.

Story did not hold my interest.

I like this author, but this story is not for me. I discovered Anna Hackett a few months ago and I really enjoyed her Eon Warriors and all 3 of the Galactic Gladiators series, but I just couldn't get into this one. I am sure the series is great, especially because of the other reviews, but I just could not get into the story. Maybe I have just gotten used to listening to Scifi/alien romances, that Egyptian mythology does not appeal to me, but my mind was still wandering after 5 chapters. Will be returning this book, but will try another of her series that does have aliens in it instead. There is nothing wrong with the story, it's just not for me.

Bad narration ruins another great story!

Once again a great story was ruined by a bad narrator. I really enjoyed the ebook version of this story, so I thought I would give the audiobook a try. I made the mistake of buying the audiobook before listening to even the audio sample. The narrator sounds like she is reading a script, but she reads it in a flat almost monotone voice with barely any inflection. Even worse is that it sounds like she is rushing through the story as fast as she can. You can't even tell when a character is talking versus any background action or inner dialog.

I tried but I could not even finish the 2nd chapter it was so bad. Will be returning this book and will be sticking with the ebooks for this series. If you manage to finish this audiobook, I suggest you do the same.

Good book, but story seemed kinda slow.

Read the ebook, but the audiobook seemed to move along a little slow. Not sure if I have gotten used to a faster, more action packed story lately, but this story seemed to drag at certain points. I really enjoyed the ebook, but the audiobook, not so much. Will try 1 more book because I know it has more action in next story, but will have to see if it holds my interest enough to continue with the series in audiobook or not. Not to critique the narrator, but I have found that some books just don't make good audiobooks... but they are great ebooks.

Great story! Hard to start, but great ending!

I am a huge fan of Celia Kyle, love her books and style of writing, but I do have some issues with her audiobooks. I have not purchased all of her books due to the fact that I don't always enjoy the narrators and I did have an issue with this book. I found that the way the narrator spoke as the male lead was so stuffy, that it actually turned me off so much that I returned the book to audible. But... a few weeks ago I found this audiobook again through my local library, (kudos to my library for having it), and gave it a 2nd try. I listened to this book while on vacation and I got so caught up in the story line and discovered that the lead male character actually mellowed out as the book was narrated and that by end the voice was spot on. So having made it to the end of the listen I have revised my opinion. I would definitely recommend this book, but caution listeners that it can be a hard listen to start, but definitely worth it when the end comes around and the female lead comes into her own strength.

Great book, great narrator!

Narrator did a fantastic job with book, have always liked the divinity series, looking forward ro getting the rest of the books in the both the divinity series. Even though these stories are more than 10 years old, it is nice to see that they are still a great read or listen. Highly recommend the divinity books and this narrator!

Buyer beware, book takes things a little to far.

Could not finish book after public punishment scene, took things to far for me. Will admit that I have read some bdsm books in the past, but this book went to far for me. Maybe it was the shear none stop arrogance and often disdain the king had for the girl as he did scene after sex scene, but there was little to like about him. Then there was the girl who took it all, that made me lose any respect for her as a woman. I stuck it out far longer then I thought I could, but this story had no redeemable qualities to it.

Good story, but... the author got lost a little.

This story was good, but I think the author got lost in the middle with a little too much sex. Don't get me wrong I like a good sex scene just as much as the next woman, but almost an hour of it is too much. I eventually had to skip over about 30 mins of the book just to move on with the story. I will buy the next book, but I hope it's not like this one.
