Historia
Lost in a new world, Lyra finds Will—a boy on the run, a murderer—a worthy and welcome ally. For this is a world where soul-eating Specters stalk the streets and witches share the skies with troops of angels. Each is searching—Lyra for the meaning of Dark Matter, Will for his missing father—but what they find instead is a deadly secret, a knife of untold power. And neither Lyra nor Will suspects how tightly their lives, their loves, their destinies are bound together...until they are split apart.

Good but not as exciting as the golden compass
Revisado: 01-06-25
We listened as a family and we all agreed that the story takes too long to say the same thing over and over. More storylines but too many events for plot points that were already explained. Not as exciting as the first.

Historia
On the evening of November 24, 1971, D. B. Cooper hijacked Flight 305—Portland to Seattle—with a fake bomb, collected a ransom of $200,000, and then parachuted from the rear of the plane, disappearing into the night...and into history. Fifty years later, Agent Pendergast takes on a bizarre and gruesome case: in the ghost-haunted city of Savannah, Georgia, bodies are found with no blood left in their veins—sowing panic and reviving whispered tales of the infamous Savannah Vampire.

Wrong narrator for this book
Revisado: 09-21-21
I’ve read all of the Pendergast books to date and started listening to the audiobooks narrated by Rene Auberjonois. Rene was a joy to listen to and absolutely nailed the characters, Pendergast and Constance et al.
This narrator was clearly out of his element with this one. Pendergast’s accent kept changing and as others mentioned he made Constance sound like an old Audrey Hepburn. The other characters voices changed from one chapter to the next as well. Every time someone spoke it was like nails on a chalkboard it was so bad. I kept wanting to quit, but having finished all the other books in this series I feel invested so listened to the end.
This was such a disappointing audio experience I think I’ll just start reading the books should the series continue.

Historia
Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets: Secrets from her mother: I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur. Sammy the goldfish in my parents’ kitchen is not the same goldfish that Mum gave me to look after when she and Dad were in Egypt. Secrets from her boyfriend: I weigh 128 pounds. Not 118, like Connor thinks. I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken.

Couldn't Stop Listening
Revisado: 04-17-04
This book was the most entertaining book I've downloaded since The Devil Wears Prada. I found tasks to do at work that wouldn't require a lot of brain power just so I could keep listening. I went to dinner with my husband and gave him my pda so he could play Jawbreaker and I wouldn't feel guilty for listening to the book while waiting for dinner. It's a very lighthearted romp and was easy to get drawn into the story and the characters. I could have done without the f* word, but otherwise I loved it.
