Should be Mandatory Reading
Revisado: 01-22-24
His entire collection should be mandatory reading in all history classes. These books are excellent and helps one understand the evolution of some of these countries, regimes and how we arrive at present day.
We can make parallelism to where we are today, and helps us understand why we need a balanced bi-partisan solution and not a partisan one. At this point we have wars occurring everywhere….we should take to heart his works, to work through the conflicts we see today and avoid a third world war and maintain the freedom which the men and women who died in these pages fought to the death to defend.

Historia
Dealing with war on a giant scale, The Grand Alliance focuses on events as Britain, after fighting a desperate battle alone, was joined in the struggle against the enemy by Soviet Russia and the United Sates. Hitler's invasion of Russia brought to an end a period of almost exactly a year during which Britain and her Empire had stood alone. Six months later, the United States, attacked by Japan, joined the war and the Grand Alliance was born.

Great Books!
Revisado: 11-21-23
This should be required reading. Those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it. There are a number of parallels that can be made to today’s situation/wars.

Historia
Most of the world remembers Crazy Horse as a peerless warrior who brought the U.S. Army to its knees at the Battle of Little Bighorn. But to his fellow Lakota Indians, he was a dutiful son and humble fighting man who, with valor, spirit, respect, and unparalleled leadership, fought for his people's land, livelihood, and honor. In this fascinating biography, Joseph Marshall, himself a Lakota Indian, creates a vibrant portrait of the man, his times, and his legacy.

Generally Good Book
Revisado: 07-16-23
In general this is a good book, because it gives a but more background on the Lakota and Crazy Horse. That said, i am compelled to give it only 3 stars because it is one sided and mostly based on hearsay. The author makes it a point at the beginning to say that these stories are passed down from generations. In addition, he indicates that spoke to individuals who were children at the time that these events are happening. It is not to say that the stories are false, but stories get distorted over time. In addition, a story from the perspective of a child so long ago may evolve over the years. So we are getting the stories from the perspective of a child who lived through it, and not from an adult who experienced it. Unfortunately, stories in many cases evolve over time, and perceptions become reality. He does not support the book with any other evidence. This is like playing the game telephone with children…by the time that the message reaches the last child, it is usually pretty different that the original. The book does do a good job of describing how Crazy Horse was ultimately betrayed by his own people. This book should be read in conjunction with others to get a full picture of the situation at the time.

This dup does an amazing job of researching and delivering this book. Their footnote references are helpful if you want to look into aspects further and where there is a potential different view, they tell you and indicated based on their research what they concluded. Just another GREAT fact based book by these two!

Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.
