The year is 1941. Shortly after the United States declares war on Japan in response to Pearl Harbor, Japan’s Tripartite Treaty allies, Germany and Italy, declare war on America. The United States finds itself in a two-theater war. President Franklin Roosevelt sets as America’s first priority the defeat of Nazi Germany, electing to wage a more-or-less holding war in the Pacific. In the beginning, the only force opposing the Japanese onslaught in the Pacific is the U.S. Submarine Service.

One of the Best WW2 Audio Books !!
Revisado: 08-08-19
One of the Best WW2 Audio Books I have listened to, and I have listened to almost all of Audible's WW2 Submarine Stores. Its a mix of Submarine, land and air war fare from the point of view of a Submarine Commander. It is the best fiction ww2 book I have listened too, suburb narration mixed with sound effects made the 21 hr book go by fast.
If you are into WW2 historical fiction, this is a must read.
Please Gene, write some more ... I will buy every audio book you release !

Historia
She was a monster, sleek and gleaming, designed to strike without warning like the dreaded shark. She was the USS Mako, as fearless and bold as any submarine that ever prowled the blue Pacific. Her mission: seek out and destroy the hitherto invincible ships of the Japanese Imperial Navy - and revenge the earlier defeats of a long and dirty war. Here is the story of the men who pitted their lives against impossible odds in the most dangerous branch of the American armed services.

It was pretty good until the end
Revisado: 08-18-18
The characters and narration were pretty good, but the end of the story was a ripoff. It was like the author had a time deadline and just stopped the story instead of ending it. I would return the book but I did listen to it, don't make that mistake, you will be disappointed.

Historia
Originally published by Wm. Morrow, in 1995, Skygods is the saga of America's most glamorous airline - from its meteoric ascent to its plunge to extinction. Pan Am blazed the way across the world's oceans with its magnificent Clipper ships, launched the first international jet service, was the first to fly the behemoth 747, was the lead customer for America's SST and the Concorde, and was even taking reservations for the first commercial flights to the moon.

Compelling read, great narration
Revisado: 06-05-18
Attention Aviation History Enthusiasts, former and current Airline employees and anyone who likes to read a good true story about American history this book is a must read for you. Brilliantly narrated by Thomas Block, this book is hard to stop listening to, I found myself driving around my block just so I could finish a Chapter before parking.
A compelling, interesting book, even though it is very detailed. Fast moving story tied to American history and Aviation development.

Historia
Boarding an airplane strikes at least a small sense of fear into most people. Even though we all have heard that the odds of being struck by lightning are greater than the odds of perishing in a plane crash, it still doesn't feel that way. Airplane crashes might be rare, but they do happen, and they’re usually fatal. David Soucie insists that most of these deaths could be prevented. He’s worked as a pilot, a mechanic, an FAA inspector, and an aviation executive. He’s seen death up close and personal - deaths of colleagues and friends that might have been prevented if he had approved certain safety measures in the aircrafts they were handling.

Must Read for anyone who Travels by Air
Revisado: 06-05-18
Easy to listen to, not a dry technical approach to the subject. Its more of a autobiography about a man who has greatly impacted aviation safety, while taking some hard blows by people more interested in money then safety.
The narration is superb, the story is compelling, the only negative I can think of is the title of the book, which I fear will cause readers to think its a dry technical book.
If you fly, give it a try.

Historia
Best-selling author John Ortberg shares how Jesus' influence has swept over history and how his vision of life continues to impact humanity today. Jesus' impact on our world is highly unlikely, widely inescapable, largely unknown, and decidedly double-edged. It is unlikely in light of the severe limitations of his earthly life; it is inescapable because of the range of impact; it is unknown because history doesn't connect dots; and it is doubled-edged because his followers have wreaked so much havoc, often in his name.

John Ortberg at is best
Revisado: 05-27-18
I have re-read Who is this Man twice now, I like the non-preachy approach, basically it’s “here is verified evidence about the man Jesus and his impact on the world, it’s up to you what you do with it”. A great book for those who are seeking answers and long time Christians. An interesting theme in the book is, throughout the centuries Christians have done more to discredit the Gospel message then any group that openly opposes Jesus, but Jesus's impact on the world still grows.

It was one of the 20th century’s most decisive wars, but also one of its most influential. In the wake of Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, America led a coalition of dozens of nations that repelled the Iraqi attack and smashed Iraqi forces, much of which was captured on live television as global networks broadcast the images back home.

Great Beginning, but soon became boring
Revisado: 05-27-18
The book started off great, interesting array of characters, interesting plot, real page turner. By the last third of the book, I was bored to tears. The author kept re-hashing the same material. By this time I had so much invested in the book that I had to keep listening to see "who done it". It was painful, and I usually love Tess Gerritsen books. I don't think she ran this one by her editor.

Historia
Thin Places, her first book, reveals how her sister's sudden death at age 45 catapulted her into numbing grief. To her great surprise, however, it opened her eyes to "thin places" - moments when the spiritual realm felt close, immediate, and even tangible. Sabra discovered that the more she took notice, the more present the thin places seemed to be. What's more, she became convinced that her sister was still lovingly present in her life.

A white New Englander from the country-club scene, Tom passed up Harvard to fly fighters for his country. An African American sharecropper’s son from Mississippi, Jesse became the navy’s first Black carrier pilot, defending a nation that wouldn’t even serve him in a bar.
