Historia
Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none, as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting. Ballard is determined not to give up at dawn.

Perfect narrator for this book

Any additional comments?
There have been a number of negative comments about the narration of this book, but Katherine Moennig's delivery seems really well suited for the story and Michael Connelly's writing style. I also like that she doesn't try and lower her voice to do the male characters. She was an excellent choice for this book and hope she continues with the series.

Historia
Since he got fired in spectacular fashion from his newspaper job last year, former investigative reporter Liam Mulligan has been piecing together a new life - one that straddles both sides of the law. He's getting some part-time work with his friend McCracken's detective agency. He's picking up beer money by freelancing for a local news website. And he's looking after his semi-retired mobster friend's bookmaking business. But Mulligan still manages to find trouble.

Missing Jeff Woodman
Revisado: 04-07-17
Would you consider the audio edition of The Dread Line to be better than the print version?
Didn't read the print version.
What three words best describe Jim Frangione’s performance?
Just okay. There was nothing wrong per se with the performance and I'm sure it would have been fine if Jim Frangione had narrated the Liam Mulligan books from the beginning, but Jeff Woodman's is the voice I associate with Mulligan and so the narration was missing a certain je ne sai quoi.
Any additional comments?
This was a fine addition to the Mulligan series, I just hope that Jeff Woodman is available for the next book.

Historia
A high-profile attorney in the middle of a leave of absence following a personal tragedy is drawn back into the legal arena amidst a media firestorm when he agrees to represent a popular rap artist accused of brutally murdering his pop star girlfriend. With its powerful voice, pause-resisting tension, and strong cast of characters, Adam Mitzner’s novels are reminiscent of such best-selling authors as Scott Turow and John Grisham.

Too bad the narrator is channeling Scott Brick
Revisado: 06-22-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A better narrator - Kevin Collins seems to be channeling Scott Brick's overwrought narration style - I'm unlikely to listen to another book narrated by him just as I avoid books narrated by Scott Brick.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Generally the story was compelling - which is why I stuck with it - and while I saw one major plot point coming a mile away, there were some unexpected twists as well.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kevin T. Collins?
Not sure - although there are male narrators I've enjoyed, the ones that stand out don't seem suited to this book. It needs someone who can be serious, with a more neutral style, and without histrionics.
