If an author is going to have the audacity to write Sherlock Holmes as a character in their story they need to make sure they write him accurately. Holmes is completely miswritten in the story and the characters are out of sync for the time. Also, the way the author wrote these characters was completely out of keeping with normal human relationship-building. There is no way a young woman who just lost her mother and was close to being penniless would trust, much less house, five complete strangers without some type of trust being built. The author does not build these relationships so it is unbelievable. I also found the constant breaking in of the characters to tell the story, during the story, was annoying.

mind altering fun

Overly complicated, little pay off; didn’t like it.

Many reviews mentioned that priests slow process within a twist ending. I was greatly intrigued. I waited through the slow complex story to find a slight twist at the end with little resolution for the main character. I loved “The Prestige “ but was disappointed in this one.

Too much re-stating the same facts.

Too much restating of the same facts we learn early in the story. By chapter 17 you will have heard a restatement of the same things over and over, about five times. I found the protagonist too caught up in her crush and not focused on her mothers killer. Good premise, but I did not enjoy the writing.
