Historia
It is 1940 and a tragedy sends Lou and her little brother, Oz, along with their invalid mother, from New York City to the rugged mountains of Southwest Virginia to live with their great-grandmother. WONDERFUL!
Revisado: 05-11-24
I read this book years ago when I could still read. I sincerely loved this semi-autobiographical story of someone who I relate to. I came across the movie, which followed the book so well, and had characters/actors who really brought (wish you well) to life, so I listened to this book. Not one disappointment ❤️ Highly recommend reading and watching the movie with Ellen Bernstein. She plays Louisa better than the book.

I love everything about this book! I’ve read it several times, and seen the movie and sequel to the movie. It still takes me back to my childhood days when things were hard, but family and love and friends made it the best days of my life. I highly recommend the book and the movies. What a wonderful classic!

What a wonderful accident! I was browsing through, trying to find my next book, and accidentally got this one. Not even close to what I usually listen to. It’s a little jewel! I loved everything about it! Except it was only 6 hrs long. Finished in one afternoon. Highly recommend, especially for young teens.

Great character development, and narration (Love Julia Whelen) Loved how it was about the women who were in Vietnam! I was 6 when the war started, and I remember those days so well. The good, the bad and the ugly. Great job Kristen! Highly recommend

Different
Revisado: 02-17-24
I’ve listened to Grossis’ books before, and wasn’t impressed. This one was good. I just don’t like his narrative style. But overall I really enjoyed this one, because it was about more than just his war experiences. Every man in my family is a Veteran, and I highly regard Vets. I’ve listened to so many books and heard my family talk about every war, since WWI (The Great War) I’m going to listen to the second book of the (Fred) saga and hope it’s as good as (Craig and Fred) I would recommend this book
