China. Korea. Japan. Southeast Asia. How did Eastern civilization develop? What do we know about the history, politics, governments, art, science, and technology of these countries? And how does the story of Eastern civilization play out in today's world of business, politics, and international exchange?

C.G.B. I’d one of my favorites, he narrates a well, you won’t regret it
Revisado: 02-06-23
Listened 3 times, back to back picking up more details each time through and this was my second time listening, and the first time I did two back to back. Therefore this was my 5th time completing it. He developed the course but the enthusiasm he narrates with is uplifting as well as being informative. This course is on the top of my list, and I have listened to many. Thank you C.G.B.!

The Civil War: A Narrative, Volume 1 begins one of the most remarkable works of history ever fashioned. All the great battles are here, of course, from Bull Run through Shiloh, the Seven Days Battles, and Antietam, but so are the smaller ones: Ball's Bluff, Fort Donelson, Pea Ridge, Island Ten, New Orleans, and Monitor versus Merrimac.

Historia
John Gregory Bourke served General George Crook for 15 years and was his right-hand man. This work is an account of his time with the legendary US Army officer in the post-Civil War West. On the Border with Crook is a written recollection of Crook’s campaigns during the American Indian Wars. Bourke makes the American frontier come alive with his description. He also included descriptions not only of Crook and his fellow cavalrymen, but also of legendary Native American leaders. Bourke argues that Crook etched his name into the annals of American history.

I very much enjoyed this book and once I started to listen I could not and did not want to stop. I finished it in two nights. Very well performed by Traber Burns!

Historia
The Early Middle Ages-the years from A.D. 650 to 1000-were crucial to Europe's future social and political development. These 24 lectures trace a journey from Scandinavia across northern and central Europe to the farthest reaches of the Byzantine and Islamic empires, providing an exciting new look an era often simply called the "Dark Ages."

Can’t stand this professor, listen to his breathing and mannerisms!
Revisado: 04-19-22
Lecture 5 is unbearable, how does the proofing and editing people not catch this? However, it is noticeable through out every single chapter. This guy is struggling to either catch his breath or he needs to work out and increase his stamina. At other times I swear he is doing one of those hold back on a burp while talking but you don’t want to be rude, yet you still burp silently and now need to blow out the gastrointestinal gases. It is disgusting, or maybe he is yawning? Although right off the bat, I said to my self, “this guy might know the material, but is so tired he can’t interject enthusiasm,” then you think “maybe he has a breathing disorder” who knows? One thing is evident they should have picked a different person to read! Bad on you Teaching Company! Nope it’s every chapter, it never gets better, I am shutting it off!
