Revisado: 03-14-25
Great story, great characters, unbelievably original and funny. The entire series is amazing, and Thron is the best comedic narrator in the business.

Incredible story with extraordinary characters brought to life by one of the best narrators. Phil Thron is the reason I took a chance on an author I wasn't familiar with and I'm elated that I did. I don't want to give anything away just listen to it now!

By Far My Favorite!!
Revisado: 03-04-14
Would you listen to Ready Player One again? Why?
There is no doubt I will listen to this book again. I have purchased over 300 audio books in my 3 year subscription to Audible and before audible I purchase many on CD. Out of all of them there are only a handful that I would listen to more than once, this would be one of them.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved all of the 80's pop culture. It was a trip down memory lane for me because I grew up with all of the first generation gaming systems, the movies, tv shows, and music. It was fantastic.
Which character – as performed by Wil Wheaton – was your favorite?
I must say, I only know Wil Wheaton from the T.V. show "The Big Bang Theory". I never watched Star Trek and I only know that he was on it from The Big Bang Theory. He did an outstanding job. All of the characters and his pacing were outstanding.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The entire book moved me. It was the best book I have listened to thus far.
Any additional comments?
I know that I am really late to this party. There must be thousands of reviews of this book and I think I was the only one that had not listened to it. I still felt compelled to write a review for those couple of people, like me, that have not listened to this book yet. It is well worth the time and credit to download. I don't think the synopsis that is written for this book does it justice. I don't write very many reviews and when I do I rarely give away any of the plot. They have professional writers to do that. I will tell you that this is a story of friendship, love, and underdogs all wrapped in 80's pop culture and futuristic gaming. I am still amazed at how Ernest Cline came up with the idea and how he got it all to work. Even if you are not a gamer I can assure you that you will enjoy this book. I may be late to the party but I am really happy that I got there.

Doesn't Get Much Better!
Revisado: 02-20-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Dead Six to be better than the print version?
There are some books that I would only get in the print version and some I prefer to get the audible version. With Larry Correia, I don't think it matters. The writing is so solid and the stories so strong that it makes no difference. I just want to get it. I will say that Bronson Pinchot does a great job with most of it and brings the characters to life.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I am one of those people that listens to books while I run or do yard work. When I'm at the gym my mind will usually drift and then I start to look at how many miles I have left to go. That did not happen with this book. I stayed engrossed the entire time and the miles flew by it what seemed like minutes. I really enjoyed the story being told from two different main characters. It was a great way to build depth in the characters.
Which scene was your favorite?
Too many to choose from.
Any additional comments?
I am a big fan of Larry Correia. I have read the print versions of the a couple of the Monster Hunters and also listened to the others. I have enjoyed them all but I found this to be the best one yet. I really enjoyed the two different main characters and how the entire story unfolds. The one thing that bothered me was the narrator's voice of Big Eddie. Fortunately, he does not speak for most of the book. I found him to be a great villain, I just did not like the voice that went with him. If you like great action, fantastic characters, and lots of guns, you will not be disappointed in this one!

RAW!! REFRESHING AND SOMETIMES BRUTAL!!!!
Revisado: 12-13-13
What did you love best about Ghost?
Great story with a very strong main character. If you want a book or characters that are PC this is not the book for you and that's what I enjoyed the most.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, great story even if some of it is far fetched but it is fiction. The plot was unique with great action. I listen to a lot of action thrillers and this was one of the more unique stories I have come across.
What about Jeremy Arthur’s performance did you like?
Jeremy Arthur was fantastic. Every character had a specific voice. It was as if there was more than one person doing the voices of the individual characters. First audio book with this narrator and I was very impressed.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I don't know if any part of the book "moved me" but it kept my attention the whole way. I did enjoy the no nonsense approach of the military characters. If they thought it then they said it, AWESOME.
Any additional comments?
I want to be clear on this book not being for everyone. Ghost (the character) is a know it all sexist pig. He is also very aware of this flaw in himself. What I really enjoyed was that the characters views seemed much more real than in most books. In my opinion it is refreshing to see someone write a book and not worry about being politically correct or if a fictional character or characters will offend anyone. Having said that, give this book a try and go in with an opened mind or just wanting to be entertained.

Good but not Great
Revisado: 09-07-12
Any additional comments?
Let me start by saying that Ray Porter is great. I think he kept me interested more than the storyline. The concept was solid but there did not seem to be a lot of depth. There were a couple of points in the story where the author was rambling and it did not have any useful information. There were other points in the story where he had a chance to do more character developement and did not. I did not find the twins to be all that interesting and were very shallow. If you enjoyed the first book in the series ( Patient Zero ) you will be a bit dissappointed with this one. The action was run of the mill type of stuff, you don't really get to know Joe Ledger or any of his team any better than in the first book. I enjoy books that are part of a series because you get to see the characters grow throughout the books. This book left me wanting more twists and turns, more action, and more character developement. Not sure if I will continue with the series.

This is the story of Michael Talbot, his family, and his friends: a band of ordinary people trying to get by in extraordinary times. When disaster strikes, Mike, a self-proclaimed survivalist, does his best to ensure the safety and security of those he cares for. Book one of the Zombie Fallout Trilogy follows our lead character at his self-deprecating, sarcastic best. What he encounters along the way leads him down a long dark road, always skirting the edge of insanity.

Not at all what I expected, thank you!
Revisado: 07-09-12
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed Zombie Fallout. There was no elite fighting force or one bad dude that kicked the crap out of every zombie and that is what makes this a great story. There are only so many things that you can do with a zombie theme and yet this story was very different from most I have read or listened to. The story has a very human feel to it (yes, I know I am talking about a zombie book.) I felt that if you remove the zombies and add any other type of real threat, this is how people would respond. For me that makes it human and down to earth.
This book caught me off gaurd with witty sarcasm. I was not expecting humor but was very pleased with its delivery. Mike Talbot is very funny and a man that most people, reading or listening, will be able to relate with. It is great to hear the story from his point a view.
The narrator was also fantastic. He does a wonderful job of bring out the humor of Mike Talbot's comments and sarcasm. That is a very under rated skill and really makes this story enjoyable.
Zombie Fallout has action, suspense, humor and zombies, who doesn't love that combination? This was an unexpected pleasure and I will be listening to the rest of the series.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Any additional comments?
I have listened to a lot of audio books and I have never felt compelled to share a review about any of them. That is not to say they were not great or that I didn't enjoy them and it is not an insult to those books but rather a testament as to how much I enjoyed 14. I have never read anything from this author before and I am not sure why I choose this book. I read the description and though it sounded interesting.
I was sucked in right away. I found myself taking the long way to and from the office. I was listening to it while doing yard work, I just didn't want to stop listening. I don't want to give anything away so I will not go into any plot lines. All of the characters are well developed and I found myself interested in all of them. I enjoyed the bond that builds between them as the story goes on. The plot was unique and mysterious. The narrator was fantastic and I think really makes the story come to life. Overall, it was one of the very best audio books I have listened to and I would encourage people to take a chance on this one.
