You'll never want this story to end
Revisado: 05-06-19
This is a book that, once you start it, grips you with iron hands. My only criticism is the narrator. She has terrible articulation. She merges words and is hard to understand some phrases.

Historia
Of all of John Irving's books, this is the one that lends itself best to audio. In print, Owen Meany's dialogue is set in capital letters; for this production, Irving himself selected Joe Barrett to deliver Meany's difficult voice as intended. In the summer of 1953, two 11-year-old boys – best friends – are playing in a Little League baseball game in Gravesend, New Hampshire. One of the boys hits a foul ball that kills the other boy's mother. The boy who hits the ball doesn't believe in accidents; Owen Meany believes he is God's instrument. What happens to Owen after that 1953 foul ball is extraordinary and terrifying.

The story is engaging and funny. The characters palpable and deep. The book makes you smile, and cry, and think, and review your perspectives. Read it.

I tried really hard
Revisado: 04-04-16
I'll be brief: life is short. At some point, I decided that I didn't care for the conclusion of the story. I have better option for literary entertainment. I dozed off more and more frequently and had to go back and pick up the narrative. Why bother? Next.

A new all times classic
Revisado: 07-03-15
Full of action, blood, bowels spilling its contents, love, sorrow, self sacrifice, and, finally, at the last page (or word masterfully read), the sentiment of sadness for its end.

there are better stuff out there...
Revisado: 09-17-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No. The story is not well written. The plot is boring after the first hour...
What could Terry Brooks have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
He could have made a book with the taste of something new. It look like a copy of Tolkien made in China.
What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
He is good in characterization.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
hummm... Considering the amount of trash I use to see on TV, I guess I would...
