Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Incredible, Emotional and Beautiful
Revisado: 04-22-23
Before I read this book I read reviews - most of which declared how depressing and hard this book is to read. So as I started reading I braced myself for a downer of a book.
However what I found is a book, that, although quite depressing, tells the story of a person that so many people in America can relate to. Because unfortunately so many People’s lives run parallel to Demon’s. So many people grow up and go through the same things - dancing challenge after challenge - never seeming to get ahead.
This book is probably difficult for people to read who can’t relate to it - who can’t see themselves in the story - but for those of us who can it rings true
And the best part / gives us hope! Thank you to ms. Kingslover for sharing Demon with us. I will carry him with me for quite some time!

Historia
Miss Pettigrew is a down-on-her-luck, middle-aged governess sent by her employment agency to work for a nightclub singer rather than a household of unruly children. Over a period of 24 hours, as she becomes caught up in the life of Delysia LaFloss, her own life is changed - forever. This charming, funny, light-hearted 1938 novel was a bestseller on its first appearance. Read by Academy Award winning actress Frances McDormand, who stars in the 2008 film as Miss Pettigrew.

The Yaga siblings—Bellatine, a young woodworker, and Isaac, a wayfaring street performer and con artist—have been estranged since childhood, separated both by resentment and by wide miles of American highway. But when they learn that they are to receive an inheritance, the siblings agree to meet—only to discover that their bequest isn’t land or money, but something far stranger: a sentient house on chicken legs.

All over the place
Revisado: 02-08-23
I wanted to like this book. I love Baba Yaga and think that this book has a lot of good ideas however there are too many of them. Certain elements never seem to be fully explained and over all it was too ambitious if a go to fit into one book. The over all point about not forgetting is a great one. The story needed to a bit simpler

Historia
Piranesi lives in the House. Perhaps he always has. In his notebooks, day after day, he makes a clear and careful record of its wonders: the labyrinth of halls, the thousands upon thousands of statues, the tides that thunder up staircases, the clouds that move in slow procession through the upper halls. On Tuesdays and Fridays Piranesi sees his friend, the Other. At other times he brings tributes of food to the Dead. But mostly, he is alone.

Historia
During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of 30-something friends from Oxford meets to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students 10 years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands - the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves. They arrive on December 30, just before a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world. Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead.

Revisado: 04-04-22
This is the third book that I have read by Lucy Foley. I enjoyed it. I like the way she writes from multiple perspectives and the way the story unfolds because of it. I am not a fan of the odd sub plot that arrives late in story but it’s ok
