Poopie got real in this one.
Revisado: 06-14-20
This book definitely contains one of the most descriptive chapters in literary history... That aside, the shorter length didn't bother me, but it definitely felt more like book 7.5, or book 8 part 1.

Probably my favorite reading of any book ever, and I mean that without hyperbole. Rob Inglis performs all four of the LotR stories in world class fashion.

Historia
For the first time, the great depth and diversity of Taoist spirituality is introduced in a single, accessible manual. Taoism, known widely today through the teachings of the classic Tao Te Ching and the practices of t'ai chi and feng-shui, is less known for its unique traditions of meditation, physical training, magical practice, and internal alchemy. Covering all of the most important texts, figures, and events, this essential guide illuminates Taoism's extraordinarily rich history and remarkable variety of practice.

Exactly the text I was looking for... I have been studying philosophical Daoism for years via books, and as I'm digging into Hinduism, my curiosity about the religious side of Daoism was piqued, as there are some fascinatingly common threads.

"What should we have for dinner?" To one degree or another, this simple question assails any creature faced with a wide choice of things to eat. Anthropologists call it the omnivore's dilemma. Choosing from among the countless potential foods nature offers, humans have had to learn what is safe, and what isn't. Today, as America confronts what can only be described as a national eating disorder, the omnivore's dilemma has returned with an atavistic vengeance.

Phenomenal, gorgeously written, evoking a deep appreciation for our place in our food chain and an understanding of our abuses therein.
A good followup read would be a book by the oft cited Joel Salatin, "Folks, this ain't Normal"

Fascinating look into what the author calls...
Revisado: 10-18-15
Fascinating look into what the author calls historical normalcy, growing up in Pa near a lot of derelict farms it always was lost on me why we shipped so much of our food in, w/o utilizing what we have at our feet. Joel discusses everything from food politics to family and faith, and the interconnectedness of all things.
Highly recommended.

Historia
Food. There's plenty of it around, and we all love to eat it. So why should anyone need to defend it? Because in the so-called Western diet, food has been replaced by nutrients, and common sense by confusion—most of what we’re consuming today is longer the product of nature but of food science. The result is what Michael Pollan calls the American Paradox: The more we worry about nutrition, the less healthy we see to become.

Was recommended to me through our universities' "Student Dietetic Association Book Club". As an aspiring sports nutritionist, the book laid out some very sensible, however forgotten advice (at least to us Americans)
