Fascinating description of a harrowing, tradgedy-filled, dramatic journey through the Amazon. You almost feel like you're there and you get to know each man as their multi-layered personalities unfold throughout. The history was nicely complemented with biology and rich descriptions of the tropical setting and social context. Narrator was spectacular.

The way Millard paints a rich, nuanced portrait of these fascinating men and events is made even better by how Paul Michael injects life into them. It's almost like you're there on the Tanganyika experiencing their triumphs and pitfalls and all the dangers of 19th century African exploration right with them.

Loved it! The logical fallacies, cognitive biases, and the importance of rational decision making discussed in this book should be required learning for all students. This book could improve lives and the course of history if more people read it. Erudite as always, Pinker nails it.

"Noise" is really geared toward companies and policy-makers with an interest in reducing noise, as opposed to "Thinking Fast and Slow" which was a fascinating read for the average person. I love Daniel Kahneman and "Noise" contains great insight but it felt way too drawn out and repetitive. I had to give up listening.
