Historia
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Excellent story and narration
Revisado: 04-09-25
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It’s like a cross between World War Z and Pacific Rim. The narration is amazing. They really bring the characters to life. I would be excited to see this turned into a movie.

Johnnie Rico never really intended to join up—and definitely not the infantry. But now that he’s in the thick of it, trying to get through combat training harder than anything he could have imagined, he knows everyone in his unit is one bad move away from buying the farm in the interstellar war the Terran Federation is waging against the Arachnids. Because everyone in the Mobile Infantry fights. And if the training doesn’t kill you, the Bugs are more than ready to finish the job.

Slow start, great ending - best narrator ever
Revisado: 01-14-25
I can really appreciate both the movie and the book. The book feels a little disjointed at the start, but the story really finds its stride in the middle and end. Of course, the one and only, first of his name, King of the book narrators and master of all science fiction characters - RC Bray is amazing. Great listen and definitely looking forward to watching the movie again.

Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter. And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan.

Her best book yet!
Revisado: 11-26-24
I love Abby’s humor and writing. She deals with heavy subjects with such levity and grace. I dare you to read the chapter about “pulling a Brianna Ortiz” without laughing so hard you cry. Don’t miss the author’s note at the end. If you do read this review, know that in actually checked my driver’s license to make sure I am an organ donor - I am :)

Outstanding post apocalyptic story with female main character!
Revisado: 08-23-24
This story might not be for everyone. Yael is a complex character which challenges your view of who is good and bad in a survival situation. I love how her backstory is woven very seamlessly into the book with lots of historical events. Very timely considering current events as of the date of this review. In here for this story and can’t wait for the next installment.
Also, his Royal Brayness slays (as usual) in his performance. Knockout punch with writing and narration.

Very excellent read for a historical fiction novel
Revisado: 07-30-24
I initially purchased the audiobook thinking it was a non-fiction novel (solely my mistake). I’m glad of it - It was so well written, I actually forgot at times that it was fictional. As a female veteran of the Iraq war, the experience of the main character and her sisters in arms was captivating and definitely made me reminisce about my time in Iraq. I am going to check out the book “Healing Hearts” as I am a fan of the fictional war accounts. As always, Julia Whelan was an outstanding narrator. I love listening to her performances.

Normally not a fan of prequels, but this one changed my mind!
Revisado: 06-29-24
No spoilers! I generally don’t like prequels. Mostly it feels like a money grab by publishers at the end of a very successful series. This one is different. Great cast of characters and Mark Boyett did a fantastic job of narrating. Definitely pick this one up if you enjoyed the series.

The gang of misfits you never knew you needed.
Revisado: 05-20-24
I loved this series since I listened to the first book and every book in the series has never let me down. The combination of action with the levity of humor and loss is really good. Having a narrator change in the middle of a serious can be tough, but I think both narrators were amazing and are a credit to their craft.
If this ends up being the end of the series, it was a good ending and very satisfying. In fact, the parting words from Wick were so meaningful I wrote them down to keep reflecting on them.
You will most certainly get more credits out of me if you decide to continue to write about the future adventures of our Phantoms. I’ll certainly be thinking of the meeting between Sir Charles and a certain magnificent beer can 😁

No more Dark Mode. That’s what Bran had promised Kat—and made her promise him. Which was their shorthand for, “Let’s stop killing people.” But that’s easier said than done when your friend is a hybrid: part human, and part mutated apex predator. Wounded and on the run from their former lives in Northern California, Bran and Kat find themselves in the Oregon wilderness, searching for a place to call home—a place where they can escape their past, with people that will accept Kat for what she is. So it seems like a miracle when they stumble across an old monastery.

Really enjoying the continuation of the Remaining universe
Revisado: 04-01-24
So I’ve been reading The Remaining series since the first book was published and have loved this series. When the second part of the series “The Lee Harden series was published” the author took a HUGE detour from the theme and feel of the other books. It got very dark and depressing. I love the post apocalyptic genre, but I stick to series where there is hope that good overcomes evil. The Lee Harden series was just one big series of death and destruction and I honestly hated the evolution of Lee Harden’s character.
This book goes back to the spirit and feel of the original “Remaining”
Series and I love it! DJM does an excellent job of drawing you into some of the secondary characters from previous books. I’m very excited for the next book!
