Historia
A Secret Service operative and dedicated survivalist, Special Agent Del Roosevelt had a plan for every world-ending scenario and regularly trained for them all. He was even ready for a date with the hottest woman in his office next Friday. At least he hoped so. But all that training, all those rations, all that prepping? Useless for the apocalypse that actually played out. Del wakes up half-buried in a giant trash pile, missing his thumbs. And, um, covered in red fur. He's stuck in a world of fuzzy monsters, senseless violence, and cult-like crusaders.

swing and a miss
Revisado: 09-29-24
Although the narration was good, did not enjoy this book as much as Eric's other lit RPG's. Did not find any characters likeable enough to continue the series.

... A nice change from most in the genre..
Revisado: 08-15-19
I listen to quite a few post-apocalyptic books, and am glad when its Kevin Pierce. To me he is the voice of the Apocalypse, and if the SHTF in real life, its going to be his voice narrating my story.
This book was written as a self contained action story. Its not a to be continued serial novel, which is a nice change from most in the genre which tries to fill your mind of 'how to survive' type of scenarios explaining equipment used, etc. The pace was very fast, which is my only complaint, they sure endured a lot in a few days- I would be exhausted.
I enjoyed the story, and listened to the audiobook in one shot while traveling, I would purchase Steven's stories in the future.
I was given a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Meetings
Revisado: 08-06-18
Quite a few meetings. Meetings about meetings. and its about 90% war. However, at this point I am too invested in the story and charterers to stop, and do look forward to the conclusion. I just wish the focus was more on the eggs, circuit boards, etc.. the backstory of the why? Instead of the constant armed conflict. Sure, you need some of that to keep the story interesting. But, its a bit too much.

Historia
You may not have heard as much about the Korean War as you have about the American Civil War, World War II, or the Vietnam War. It’s not the topic of dozens of movies every year, and many Americans never learned about it, even once, in school. The Korean War was part of the Cold War - a more familiar subject - but while Sputnik, the Berlin Wall, and MAD have faded from our collective memory of what the Cold War was, the Korean War remains the one part of the Cold War that’s still active. With this audiobook, you’ll finally learn the ins and outs of the Korean War.

Cliff Notes of the Korean War
Revisado: 07-31-18
I dont view this as much of a Trivia Book as its the abridged history of Korea from around 1900 on. Yes there are trivia questions/answers at the end of every chapter. But, I feel like thats just a check to see if you where really paying attention.
In the end, I learned quite a bit of the 'why' Korea is the way it is. And found especially interesting the WWII era, and the US/USSR influence post WWII. Short and to the point, this book will help any be more knowledgeable about why things are the way they are.

Good Start
Revisado: 06-01-18
The book is the first in a new twist to the Apocalypse series where a group of people are given a different series of unfortunate events in each book. An attack happens and really noone knows really by who or for why whom, and what happens after the attack makes this book was very plausible But, I had a hard time creating a connection with the characters. Since the entire premise of the book(s) revolve around the same base actors, I wish there was a .5 prequel book which creates that connection to help give depth into the rest of the series.
As always "Mr. Apocalypse" Kevin Pierce did a fine job throughout, and to be honest, I cant imagine an Apocalypse book without Kevin as the narrator.
I was given a copy of this audiobook by the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion of this work.

IT perspective
Revisado: 05-26-16
Working for an IT company, I understand alot of what the author was trying to convey. I did enjoy the first half of the book, but it ended very weak. It just poof, ended, praise Ralph.
I thought the narrator, Ramiz Monsef, did a great job. And I look forward to hearing any futher books narrated by him.

Historia
The stories of 15 combat veterans featured in this audiobook tell of the experiences of average Americans who fought US enemies on Pacific islands, in China, and in Burma during World War II. They relate much previously unavailable information about the military in which they served and the battles they fought. The possibility of death and permanent physical and mental injury was a common experience. This audiobook is a "must listen" for those who think they have learned all there is to know about World War II.

Combat Veterans Vol 2
Revisado: 11-24-15
The stories where unique, and I heard aspects of the war which are not frequently told. (from photographer, OSS saboteur, raider). They also go in detail about their post-war life, sometimes with more detail then their war record. This is very interesting as well, some lived a very public life. Congressman, Lawyers, etc.
There were a few moments which made me chuckle, like when the one solider had his stash of smokes bushwhacked by the Chinese military. And there were some moments which where tragic or sad. One of the veterans mentioned he lived in my small hometown for a few years!
I thought it was a good idea that the author wrote down the words used by the veteran, no matter if it was proper English or not. This helped build the persona of the individual. However, this is no offense to the narrator who did a great job, and I know it would be a logistical nightmare, but if each veteran was to narrate their own story, it would be awesome. Or, if a supplemental to the audio book was included with photos of the veterans, it would help put a face to the words.
I have added volume 1 to my cart! Thank you for sharing these veteran’s stories!
