Although the author had a personal involvement in the subject matter of this book, she obviously researched and wrote an unbiased history of a visual record of a sad and traumatic moment .

This is a book I wish had been available when I was a teenager. I have no doubt my path in life would have been different and I would now be feeling more fulfilled and secure. Thanks to this book I now see what was always right in front of my nose, and the process to make the needed changes. If you're parents of a teenager consider this book as a valuable gift to them.

Revisado: 07-02-18
The author gives the reader an honest, up close, and knowledgeable view of the decision making process that very few have, or will ever experience. We also see that things we read, or see, isn't always the truth. The World As It Is opened my eyes a little further.

Historia
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

Great Book
Revisado: 02-09-18
This is a very long book, and I wasn't sure if I was willing to spend the time. I am so very glad I did. In each character the author shows the reader each of us has a public side we show, and then a private side that very few are allowed to see. This is a book I will read again. I found it difficult to decide who was the main character. I now realize, we all are.

Historia
Just 75 years ago, the American government did something that most would consider unthinkable today: It rounded up over 100,000 of its own citizens based on nothing more than their ancestry and, suspicious of their loyalty, kept them in concentration camps for the better part of four years. How could this have happened? Uprooted takes a close look at the history of racism in America and carefully follows the treacherous path that led one of our nation's most beloved presidents to make this decision.

Revisado: 12-24-16
Although short, this book explores another dark chapter of racism in America and exposes many subtle ways it is advanced under the guise of security. Uprooted forces the reader to examine how far he would go and still feel comfortable in deciding on security vs liberty. Another book that should be required reading in American History classes.

Seeing what we want to see.
Revisado: 12-21-16
Four stars for a book of surprises. And the biggest surprise is saved for the end of the book. My heart and soul ached while reading A Mother's Confession, realizing I know people who are so similar to each of the characters. I found that scary while fearing there were times I should have spoken up. Seems each main character had good and bad traits, and I found myself understanding why. I recommend this book for almost everyone.

Very interesting.
Revisado: 12-12-16
An interesting book that is hard to follow in the beginning. I am into genealogy so I found myself going to the family tree to check a name mentioned in the book. The Killing of Crazy Horse showed me the American history I was taught in school sixty years ago was very slanted toward us whites. Our greed was the cause for the attempted elimination of the Native Americans. I highly recommend this book. It's long, so get comfortable.

Historia
One recent December, at age 53, John Kralik found his life at a terrible, frightening low: his law firm was failing; he was struggling through a second divorce; he was living in a tiny apartment where he froze in the winter and baked in the summer. Then, during a walk in the hills on New Year’s Day, John was struck by the belief that his life might become at least tolerable if, instead of focusing on what he didn’t have, he could find some way to be grateful for what he had.

Life Enhancing
Revisado: 11-29-16
I'm so glad I read this book. I have a more positive attitude after just reading this book. I tend to verbalize my gratitude more than writing notes. I now plan to include a few thank you notes. They are more permanent so could be reread over the years. I would recommend this book to anyone, and would suggest writing notes. Expressing gratitude to others can only enhance one's life. And also the lives of others.
