Loved the content...not the narrative
Revisado: 11-10-17
I very much enjoyed this book. I listened to it as I turned 60 years old and got a lot out of the content of dying and living life in a different way
However...I truly wish someone else had read the book. I’m sorry, Mr Levine, but your creepy, Grim Reaper voice was not enjoyable at all. Please have someone else read your books from now on!!

Historia
"It was a beautiful, breezy, yellow-and-green afternoon..." This is how Abby Whitshank always begins the story of how she fell in love with Red that day in July 1959. The Whitshanks are one of those families that radiate togetherness: an indefinable, enviable kind of specialness. But they are also like all families, in that the stories they tell themselves reveal only part of the picture.

If you love Anne Tyler, no long review is needed. Another wonderful sweeping story of a family in the way Anne Tyler always delivers. I need to call my Mom now....

That was the end??
Revisado: 10-21-11
I did lilke this book, I really did. Not a life changer, but a good chick book. However...there I was..listening away and hadn't paid attention to how much time was left and "The End". What?? It's over?? Not a good ending...way too many opened things that could have been cleared up. Having said that...give it a listen, it's not a bad story at all. Good performance, too.

Learning of Bruno's ability to speak, Lydia takes Bruno into her home to oversee his education and nurture his passion for painting. But for all of his gifts, the chimpanzee has a rough time caging his more primal urges.

5 stars all around!!
Revisado: 09-25-11
A stunning and deep story. I loved Bruno!! The voice used to perform Bruno was wonderful, I have told friends to listen it, don't read it because you would never use that wonderful accent. It was quite a journey, we took, Bruno and I. I have some new "life quotes" I have a new feeling about chimps. After listening to this and listening to the 20 minute interview with the author..please do not miss that...I watched some Jane Goodall documentaries and have some whole new thoughts about apes.
If I had one thing negative to say...it would only be this...how many times can the author use the term "my long purple fingers". Really...it almost got annoying, but if that's the worst..then please, please listen to this book!! Wonderful!!!

Loved it..hated the end
Revisado: 05-25-09
I, too, did not like the end of this book, I thought maybe I hadn't downloaded the whole thing!! but having said that..it was a great read, and I enjoyed the reader. Not being very technical, and not playing computer games didn't matter, I didn't feel left out of that, still a good book. Abrupt end, but wouldn't keep me from recommending it.
