So worth every minute!

This has been the first recommended Adriana Locke series and I was over the moon to get the Gibson Boys all in one bundle. I love these guys, and their leading ladies and Nana, of course. I can’t pick a favourite but then again Peck instantly grabbed my heart from the very start, so getting his story last was worth waiting until the end.
These are easy listens that tugged on my heartstrings and made me laugh (and occasionally roll my eyes with a huge smile on my face!). These boys are rowdy but all heart and they each found their perfect match.
A well-spent credit and countless listening hours that I will happily listen to again- and recommend to any romance reader.

TRIGGERS +++
This is a VERY DARK ROMANTIC SUSPENSE and unless you are prepared to go the whole nine yards I wouldn’t advise you to attempt this duet- not even out of curiosity.

This story was haunting on all levels!
I hate that Adeline and the other girls had to go through so much but she came out a warrior albeit with severe trauma and demons of her own.
I thought my love love Zade was conditional but seriously he proved himself so worthy of the daddy Zade title!

Side note: Sibie and her henchmen brought much needed light and twisted this story. I’m not even a little bit mad that I share the name with such a unique and mind- f*cked character.

I loved that the story wasn’t rushed and that a lot of aspects such as trauma, PTSD, Addie’s relationship with her mom, and her complex relationship with Zade were resolved/ dealt with.

This story could’ve been a one star at any point but I’m glad I persevered with the entire duet.

Underwhelming with OTT dramatics

This started off cute and then got messy with the heroine who repeatedly jumped to unfounded conclusions about her friends and relationships, plus her endless meddling in their lives…. And then there was all the side plots thrown in that had nothing to do with her dating her brother’s (high school) best friend.
The narration was just okay.

Present day Christmas romance

Great story, it felt a little long winded at times but overall i love the grumpy-sunshine relationship between Holly & Declan. Their chemistry and banter had me chucking,
The friend/ family dynamic made this story the more enjoyable and makes want to find out the full story on the other characters.
The present day plot with Holly as a TikTok famous personality and Declan’s off grid reserved life make this all the more interesting.
Good narration overall.

Good story but fell short of being epic

This story had every potential to be epic. Will I remember this story? Yes, I absolutely will. I LOVED the beginning with Lennon and Phoenix’s early friendship and romance. Every time he called her groupie I swooned!
I loved a bad boy, good girl story especially one when he’s broken- and broken he was. But Lennon had her own demons and insecurities. Ashley Jade never leaves a stone unturned and no plot holes- like ever- and this book was no exception.
What I didn’t like was the pacing of the story in the present. It felt like it dragged on and it was repetitive in a way, not excessively but but enough to make me want them hurry up and resolve their issues- i.e. him stealing her song and breaking her heart.
Lennon was easily loveable and relatable but man, Phoenix was 50 shades of effed up. Sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll is one of the reasons I don’t read a lot of rock star romance, but did this author I would, however the over abundance of the mindless screwing and BJs made me unfeeling towards Phoenix, and that’s without his remorseless attitude towards stealing her blooming song and claiming it as his own.
There are lots of sensitive reader warnings and TW that shouldn’t be taken lightly, they’ve all be written well by this author who writes with so much compassion and integrity.

Mixed feelings on this one.

I won’t say much just that I didn’t feel this book the way I expected to.

The premise overall was good, but I just struggled with it. I found the kids’ part too distracting and maybe inconsistent for their age/ development.

Maybe reading/ listening to the audiobook back to back with book one wasn’t a good idea 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m attuned to A.L. Jackson’s writing style so that wasn’t the issue for me. All the elements of emotions, damaged heroes, trauma, family, danger, intrigue, suspense, chemistry and steam are all there but it just didn’t gel for me.

2.5 STARS for the story overall,
3 STARS because that cover captures Jud and Salem to perfection!!

Slow start but fast ride.

“The monster is me and I am the monster.”

I am I got hooked after the second attempt to listen to this— it was a slow start and bold up but once the momentum started it kept going and I couldn’t get enough.
The main characters really made this story, the ones we knew from before and the newer ones. I laughed, nearly broke down crying far too many times and so many plot twists.
Nina, Nikolai and Zoya…. JUST WOWW!!
I would’ve liked the romance to be amped up just a little more but the attractions and undercurrents left it simmering at an easy temperature.
The plot will blow you away— and keep hold of your heart!!
I’m diving into Rule of Wolves right this minute.

4.75 stars overall although that’s just me being too stingy to give a well deserved 5 Stars.

Enjoyable story

This book has been on my TBR for too long and I grabbed a the audiobook format in the audible sale 🙌🏽

I was drawn into it from the start until the end. It was a satisfying story and an easy listen without a plot that was too overwhelming. I have a few minor reservations about the story like how quickly she tossed aside her lifelong friendship with Luke despite his deception (whatever happened to him? 🤔).
This is still worth the listen and enjoyable, especially for a standalone fantasy book. I enjoyed this authors style of writing.

The narration is on point- I did have to remind myself that this was Luella’s character and not Aelin

“Abriella, every star in that sky shines for you."

Well wow, oh also oh WOW! 😳😱🤯 I need book therapy as I can’t stop ranting to anyone who would listen… the heroine got herself into quite a situation and I’m just shaking my heads thinking: I TOLD YA SO, girlll!!

Of main characters in this book I liked Finn the most (like, duh 😅).

I got into this book quite easily (in the audiobook format) and transitioned to reading quite easily in the printed format. Abriella was a bit all over the place, fierce and determined one minute then naive and overly trusting, saying one thing then doing the opposite… she has some major character growth to fill out but I’m confident she will in the next part to this story.

There’s a bit of a Cinderella meets Belle vibes early on, and it felt like bits and pieces of other fantasy books were thrown in, but the story came into its own especially with the big reveals and plot twists! I DIDN’T TRUST THAT DUDEEEE!!


Overall: the visual created by the author was captivating and I’m glad I stuck with it and now the wait for the next book!

The narration is enjoyable.
