Love this 3rd novel written and narrated by Mr. Hendry. His humor makes me laugh out loud. The Safari adventures viewed from a guide’s pt of view were informative and, at times, sobering. Looking forward to re-reading the first two novels. And, of course, selfishly hoping for a fourth novel.

Love this, as well as their 2 prior books about their lives and experiences as wildlife reseach scientists and conservationists in Africa. I can't single out just one memorable moment, there have been so many of them in all their books. Unexpected situations that strike fear, dismay and laughter are all written in compelling prose. The more I have read, the more my admiration grows for Mark and Delia Owens. If you haven't read their other books yet, I highly recommend, in order of publication, Cry of the Kalahari and The Eye of the Elephant. Delia Owens also wrote a book of fiction (excellently written story, made into a movie), Where the Crawdads Sing.

Loved it. Lyrical, thoughtful prose. Funny. Sad. A memoir about family in South Carolina. Beautifully written and, combined with a very good narrator, there is true joy in the stories and the listening. Reading it again.

Listening to this memoir with Barack Obama's narration, for me, enriched the book immensely. He is a husband, father, son, grandson, friend, music lover, pick-up game player. Fortunately, he is also an intelligent, confident, idealistic, self-effacing, critical-thinking, fine human being. And, fortunately, he served 8 years as our President. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I read Cry of the Kalahari soon after it came out originally. Read it again when came to Kindle, and again in the Audible version. I recommend this highly to wildlife, wildlife behaviour and adventure lovers. A remarkable story. I recommend Mark and Delia Owens' other books as well.

Ken Follett used to be a favorite

Historical novels are a favorite of mine. I love the narration by Simon Prebble. I also am very fond of Ken Follett's "earliest works". The time period he is writing about in A Place Called Freedom provides a wonderful backdrop for the development of rich characters, so this book caught my interest. I was hoping he had stopped drizzling in the repeated and gratuitous depiction of tingling loins. But after a 25-30 year hiatus from reading his disappointing "later writings", I don't think I'll check in on him again.

The first part of this book was a tough read. Wrong assumptions about Autism delayed and muddied the pursuit of causes and proper care. Devoted parents, medicine and behavioral science persevered with many up and downs. A fascinating and worthy read. The end gave me encouragement for the future.
