Historia
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Getting through this audio book felt a bit as thorough as getting through a textbook. But the author does a great job to make the science of trauma easy to understand. This book helps me understand some of what a loved one has gone through. I highly recommend this book if someone you care about has gone through trauma, even if they seem OK now.

Solid life guidance for working parents

I’ve tried to live by the principles of this book for maybe 8 years now. I came back to listen to this book on Audible to be reminded of what workplace choices about my time would be most honoring to God and my family. Still much gold to mine from these chapters. 5 stars.
The narrator did misspeak two words, but he still deserves 5 stars.
