Slow, monotonous, and too many story directions.

This series is well written with some cute philosophical moments but damn it's slow. Way too many story arcs with characters all trying to do the same thing, appease the MC. It wasn't hard to follow the arcs but since they were all similar I had a hard time maintaining interest. This is a weak Xian Xia version of Dr. Doolittle. If your looking for action or adventure this isn't it but if you're looking for something light, anime-style unrealistic yet cute social interactions then try this book. I'm stopping here.

Absolutely nothing happens that involves the main story in this one. I like this series but cant stand fillers. Waste of money. I would've skipped this one to wait for the next.

More stats rather than story.

The MC keeps me listening. Aside from his OP adventuring, he has to deal with his social anxiety. The MC is smart but dumb and especially naive and annoyingly forgiving when it comes to murderous women. The books up to the 4th are 60% stats, 30% grinding and 10% story... dude truncate the damn stats and add more of the main story!! I get tired of fast forwarding every chapter. The emerging main story is fun and interesting enough for me to continue this series but I wont be actively looking for the next one.

Xian xia pokemon, a bland version of Beware of Chicken. The MC and other characters are uniteresting but if u like "cute" stories then this is fine for ya. Returning this.

Great Characters

Hilarious and gruesome with a great cast of characters. I love that the MC is as tough mentally (or lack there of) as the Mimic. Gonna listen to book 2.

Too much introspection!

All the MC does is conject about everything to the point that he stands outside a door for a whole chapter. I couldnt finish this one. If you like chess style dull action this one is for you but to me its frustrating. The MC is so unsure of himself for a being thats over 2000 years old.

Everything in this book are fillers.

This is a fun series but this 9th book doesn't move the story at all. Practically every chapter is about stats, stats, stats, and even more stats with lazy battles as if Jake was shopping at the grocery store. The whole book is a lead up to the next book, thats it.
I won't mention spoilers but in my opinion you won't miss a thing if you skip this one.

I couldn't finish this one since it was obvious by the 20th chapter that this book won't move the story along at all.

Nope, nope. Got way too silly.

Once the elven sing-off battle started my mind reenacted the "Too silly" Monty Python sketch and gave up. Each novel became sillier but thats not the most cringing. Its the overly used comedic lines and scenarios. It really detracted from the overall plot.
