Historia
Men Who Hate Women examines the rise of secretive extremist communities who despise women and traces the roots of misogyny across a complex spider web of groups. It includes interviews with former members of these communities, the academics studying this movement, and the men fighting back. Women's rights activist Laura Bates wrote this book as someone who has been the target of many misogynistic attacks online. As Bates went undercover into the corners of the internet, she found an unseen, organized movement of thousands of anonymous men wishing violence (and worse) upon women.

Just too much and clearly an AI narrator
Revisado: 11-19-24
It’s important to recognize that this mentality exists and how it permeates parts of our society. It’s just too much. I can’t let myself wallow and stew in negativity.
The AI narration is terrible.

Historia
The lives of Leonardo da Vinci, Henry VIII, and Queen Victoria fill bookshelves and fascinate scholars all over the world. But little attention is given to the ferret who posed for the Renaissance master, the servant who oversaw the Tudor’s toilet time, or the famous horse who thrilled the miserable old monarch. These supporting cast members have been waiting in the wings for too long, and Adrian Bliss thinks it’s high time they join their glory-hogging contemporaries in the spotlight. Fortunately, now they can.

Love love love this book😍
Revisado: 11-03-24
I bought this because I enjoyed his YouTube Shorts so much. He is very clever and absolutely adorable!
I’ve listened to this book three times. The first time was really good! The second time I picked up even more of the humor. The third time I enjoyed the anticipation of each pun.
I also liked the format of the creative perspectives, kernel of fact, and the individual, bite sized stories.

Historia
Form-defining short stories. First published in 1914, James Joyce defined what the short story could be with his collection The Dubliners. A mixture of prose and poetry, each story can be listened to independently, or as a collection. From childhood to maturity, we see what life - and ultimately death - can be, via an extraordinary cast of characters, all of whom experience an epiphany. There’s Father Flynn, the priest; Evelyn, the shop girl who dreams of escape; Mrs Mooney, the butcher’s daughter, who runs a boarding house.

Historia
If Ariana Stanton has learned anything in life, it’s that men leave. She’s been taught this lesson well from the father she’s never met, who sends her a mysterious letter once a year, to her ex-fiancé, who left her for another woman. So, when she meets the charming and seemingly perfect Jonah, she promises him they will never be more than friends. It’s a promise she can’t keep. But before he has a chance to leave her, she sends him away.

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

Beautiful, Disturbing, Complex, Enlightening
Revisado: 08-18-23
Loved this book. Up front, I’ll tell you that I am cis gendered and am fine with those who are not. It appears that a lot of research was done in many different areas, which contributed so much to this beautifully written story. It is written in such way that it transported me into the lives of those who are not cis to feel their pain, confusion, frustration, and experience their challenges to just living and being who they truly are. This is an engaging way to learn more about a topic that many struggle to understand and empathize with. This openly answers questions that you can’t ask or are afraid to ask. Don’t listen to the negative reviews. Let yourself be submerged in the story and stick with it to the end. It’s worth it!

Painful love scenes and dialog
Revisado: 08-15-23
Found myself fast forwarding through the sex; it was so painfully sappy. Maybe a different narrator could make it better. Not a fan of the narrator.

Nice premise, but ughhh 🥴
Revisado: 04-11-23
I’ve always thought that men reading one of their woman’s favorite romances, occasionally, would make for a better relationship. This isn’t what I was hoping for. I found this to be frustrating, sappy, and too explicit/descriptive (I found myself fast forwarding).

Revisado: 12-20-22
Drama, drama, drama.
Self loathing.
Foul language, cursing, fake cursing.
Pettiness.
Explain, internal dialog, explain, internal dialog.
No humor here.
That pretty much sums it up.

Tenthil? Really? Say it three times.
Revisado: 11-26-22
I very much enjoyed Tenthil’s raspy voice. Hated his name! When he was given the chance to change it, I thought, gratefully, that I wouldn’t have to hear that awful lisping name again. Nope! He kept it! And, it is used, and used, and used in, what seems like, ever other sentence!
It has all the typical tropes of this genre, though the world building is a bit better, and there are more detailed battle scenes. The Female/male-writing partnership, I believe, has a lot to do with that.

He's That Guy. You know, the hero in almost every romance novel. The super-rich, powerful CEO who is beyond sexy. Lives in a penthouse. Is wicked in bed. Has massive.... feet. Is kind of a jerk, but really he's not because he harbors some major secret that, once revealed, explains why he is the way he is - therefore completely redeeming himself and making all the listeners who hated to love him swoon....

Foul Mouthed with Limited Vocabulary
Revisado: 06-14-22
I’m half way through the 2nd chapter and just can’t take anymore of this woman’s foul mouthed-limited vocabulary. Granted, at first she was talking about actual fecal matter. But, after that….come on! I’m done!
