Historia
'Good Lady Ducayne' is a sensational tale of a young woman, Bella Rolleston, who secures a job as a paid companion to a very elderly and wealthy aristocratic lady who offers her a handsome salary, a winter travelling on the Italian Riviera and the Italian Lakes and very little to do. It all seems too good to be true. And when Bella learns that the old lady's previous two companions died under mysterious circumstances and she herself is becoming paler and sicker...it does seem as though something sinister is afoot.

A curious little tale
Revisado: 06-01-17
A simple little story I ran across in grad school - an interesting example of pre-Dracula vampire literature, though there is no supernatural presence in this story. The narration could be better - there is little inflection, no voice difference between characters, and some vocal oddities in cadence - but it is sufficient.

Only downside? Too brief!
Revisado: 12-19-16
Richard Armitage reads these classic love poems very well - he does more than justice to the cadence, and his variety of tones added some life to the collection.

Historia
Trust. Betrayal. Revenge. The Count of Monte Cristo is the quintessential masterpiece of Alexandre Dumas. In Edmond Dantes we find an early materialization of the modern superhero. He is a dashing young sailor imprisoned unjustly for treason. While in prison he meets a holy man who imparts to him all his wisdom. The "abbe" also divulges the profound secret of a hidden treasure. Dantes realizes that with such immense wealth, one could wreak a hateful vengeance on one's enemies.

Another fantastic reading by BJ Harrison. His voice is capable of all the emotion, both subtle and grand, that is necessary to maker this great work come alive.

A great version of an old favorite
Revisado: 04-01-16
This is a great, old-fashioned adventure tale that most would enjoy, and Mr. Harrison does a fantastic job setting the scene and making each character come to life.

A chillingly good audiobook
Revisado: 03-16-16
Agatha Christie's novel is effectively brought to life by narrator Dan Stevens. Voices are clear and distinct, the pacing of the words is excellent, and the emotion strikes a good match to the text. Highly recommended!
