Historia
Lucas Carr went to Glenbury Hall, an old country manor house turned hotel. He signed in at reception, took his key, and went upstairs to his room. But he never got there. Somehow he vanished along the way, with not a single clue to suggest what might have happened to him. Lucas belonged to the same mysterious organization that employs Ishmael and Penny, so they are sent in to solve the mystery. But when they arrive at grim and isolated Glenbury Hall, they discover it has a reputation as one of the most haunted old houses in England.

Dull entry, skip it
Revisado: 05-18-23
You don't go into these books expecting a lot, but you do expect SOMETHING to happen. I was 1/2 done with the book when I realized that nothing had happened yet. Just the usual banter that has definitely lost it's luster after 11 books. The solution to the mystery was even more obvious than usual, and the 2nd half of the book not much better. No character building for the 2 main characters, so feel free to skip this one and hope for a return to form on the next.

Historia
Like the alphabet, the calendar, or the zodiac, the periodic table of the chemical elements has a permanent place in our imagination. But aside from the handful of common ones (iron, carbon, copper, gold), the elements themselves remain wrapped in mystery. We do not know what most of them look like, how they exist in nature, how they got their names, or of what use they are to us.

Monotonous
Revisado: 11-19-15
A droning reader combined with a less than exciting subject caused me to bail after 2 hours. Some interesting history and science buried in there, but too much personal narrative. Only for other Element-philes.

As Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes embark on their 11th adventure together, they find themselves immersed in the world of silent filmmaking. Here, the pirates are real—and unlike the shooting done with a camera, this sort can be deadly.

Quite a slog in the beginning
Revisado: 07-07-14
This book has the fatal flaw for a "novel of suspense" in that the first 2/3 is boring. Very boring. The last third picks up and is more interesting, but I almost gave it up slogging through the first parts. It does setup the next book though, which is quite good.

Great performance, nice story
Revisado: 07-09-12
Each volume in this series gets better, story-wise. And the narration is fantastic, each voice delightfully characterized.

Good continuation of series
Revisado: 03-30-11
Action packed, fun listen. The author tends to over-use and re-use phrases a bit much, but the plotting is strong. Could have done without the cliff-hanger ending, too.

Historia
Grave Sight draws listeners into the intriguing world of Harper Connelly, a woman with a unique gift: she can "see" the deceased and how they died. A teenage girl from a small Ozarks town is missing and feared dead. Hired by local police, Harper locates the girl's body in a nearby forest. But there's more than one corpse in those woods, and the second one raises questions no one wants to ask.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 03-30-11
Interesting characters and a good reader make up for a weak mystery. Maybe listening at 2, twenty-minute sessions a day during commuting gave me too much time to think about it, but the mystery and the culprit were clear from about 1/3 of the way through.
