Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

This story is truly a gift to young women who are suffering or have suffered with toxic / abusive mothers. Thank you for putting a voice to something so many can’t. Such a validating read. I would definitely recommend.

a must read for the modern leader
Revisado: 02-26-24
Read it. Study it. Implement it. I’m going to buy the hard copy next and plan to reference this book over and over again (+ the books and leader’s referenced in this book) as I start my new venture. I wish I had this a decade ago when I built my first organization. A must read for the modern team.

Powerful. I’m inspired to take massive action.
Revisado: 05-25-21
I love the emphasis on seeing challenging realities (like the patriarchy) as just that - challenges! We aren’t *just* victims to these systems, we are creators despite them. Step into your power and go create wealth. This is absolutely a new favorite book. I plan to listen to it again and again. I’m inspired and feel empowered to take massive action.

Historia
A business parable about how to create a start-up that won't trap you when you want to sell it. According to John Warrillow, the number one mistake entrepreneurs make is to build a business that relies too heavily on them. Thus, when the time comes to sell, buyers aren't confident that the company-even if it's profitable-can stand on its own. To illustrate this, Warrillow introduces us to a fictional small business owner named Alex who is struggling to sell his advertising agency.
