Historia
In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl's halftime show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That's how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life, bringing to this audio the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs.

Truly inspirational
Revisado: 06-13-20
I've never been a fan of Springsteen's music. I tried, but it's just so bombastic and not very imaginative musically. He is a great story teller, though, and that talent comes to light powerfully in this fascinating tale of his life. The accounts of his rock star days are certainly interesting enough, but what sticks with me most is the indelible impression of his early days in New Jersey, the story of a life a world apart from my suburban California upbringing even though it was lived in the same USofA at the same time. For me, that's the part that makes this story so moving because it revealed of another facet of American life I could scarcely have imagined. It reads like great fiction in that I carry the impression of it with me to this day. It expanded my world view. I make a lot of long drives and couldn't wait to go somewhere so I could hear what came next in this riveting, passionately told story, read by the very man who made his dream come true in a life most of us can only dream of. It is a truly inspiring, uplifting and magical story. i would give it ten stars.

It’s the summer of 1973, and Joe Castle is the boy wonder of baseball, the greatest rookie anyone has ever seen. The kid from Calico Rock, Arkansas, dazzles Chicago Cubs fans as he hits home run after home run, politely tipping his hat to the crowd as he shatters all rookie records.

How disappointing
Revisado: 04-21-20
I am a baseball fan. It must be very hard to write good sports fiction - I rarely read any because they always leave me flat. This is par for the course. The on-field exploits of Calico Joe are preposterous - he makes Barry Bonds' superhuman steriod-laced feats more than pale by comparison. It's just ridiculous, rendering the story unbelievable from the start. The story line is so predictable it's boring. , Supposedly Grisham is a good author, but the writing is pedestrian, not very imaginative, certainly not moving. I stuck with it as it's only 4.5 hours, hoping maybe there might be some surprising twist at the end to make it worth it, but the climax didn't amount to much - as I said, totally predictable. A waste of time. On the other hand, maybe he wrote it as a morality tale for ten-year-olds.

Historia
America, says Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Chris Hedges, is convulsed by an array of pathologies that have arisen out of profound hopelessness, a bitter despair and a civil society that has ceased to function. The opioid crisis, the retreat into gambling to cope with economic distress, the pornification of culture, the rise of magical thinking, the celebration of sadism, hate, and plagues of suicides are the physical manifestations of a society that is being ravaged by corporate pillage and a failed democracy. All these ills presage a frightening reconfiguration of the nation and the planet.

A grim assessment of the state of dissolution in America today. We are doomed unless we change our ways. The author lists the things we must do. Ain't gonna happen.

Historia
In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

I listen to audiobooks in the car. I had one issue with the narration which was that some of the characters were portrayed with a whispered voice which was virtually impossible to understand over road noise.

Historia
Are we living in the end-times? Is it possible the players depicted in the book of Revelation could be out in force today? And if they are, would you know how to recognize them? In Agents of the Apocalypse, noted prophecy expert Dr. David Jeremiah does what no prophecy expert has done before. He explores the book of Revelation through the lens of its major players—the exiled, the martyrs, the elders, the victor, the king, the judge, the 144,000, the witnesses, the false prophet, and the beast.

The fascinating story of a real life troubadour
Revisado: 07-11-16
A fascinating tale of one of America's great musicians. This in-depth study of a rare breed, a real troubadour who has traversed the country and the world time and time again and will do so until he dies with a guitar in his hands enthralled me from beginning to end. Not only was Dylan the musician singer and songwriter given a detailed study, but also light was cast into the dark recesses of the very private life of a very public figure. Bob Dylan the musician we have known through his music. Bob Zimmerman the man is also revealed here. Wonderfully written in concise detail and beautifully read.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Historia
We are accustomed to think of sociopaths as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout reveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary people, one in 25, has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. He or she has no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in 25 everyday Americans, therefore, is secretly a sociopath.

A chilling account of the sickos amongst us. A well put together and well read study of human predators who are everywhere. Apparently we encounter them daily. If only we knew who they were ahead of time. Hopefully studies like this will prompt legal remedies for their innocent victims. A good reminder that if you are the trusting type it pays to verify.

Revisado: 02-15-16
This was my first audio book. I listened to the whole thing on a two day road trip. I would never have thought I would be interested in a romance novel but I couldn't wait for what came next. Absolutely delightful. Sexy as only a woman could write. A wonderful tale of true love between two strong people.I will listen to more Amanda Quick stories, but I doubt she can top this.
