The book has the explanation for all of the lies that Republicans push on their supporters. The book emphasizes how the republican party chose to fall in line with trumps lies and expected right wing media to back them up regardless of how obvious the lie was. This book as read by Rachael Maddow is an easy listen and well worth the time if you, like me want to know what's going on with the GOP. Starting with trumps inauguration lie about the crowd size, regardless of what our own eyes saw.

This story introduces the parents of Miles Vorkosigan (not in this book) to each other and to us. I enjoyed every change in circumstance that attempts to keep them apart and fails.

I needed to comment on the performers pronunciation. just as our hero's reach the first stop of their interplanetary voyage Heinlein refers to a famous Edgar Rice Burroughs creation the Thoat (sounds like throat) several puns follow. But the readers read it as "tho at"like calling a boat a 'bow at' when you say a pun like "a man can't eat with his thoat cut" but mispronounce it as tho at, the puns don't work. This should never get past the editors.
Up to now the book is identical to The Number of The Beast.

A boy on his journey to becoming a man

I always liked this book. There are some parts that seem almost preachy. while our hero describes his"history and moral philosophy" class, RAH gives us his ideas on a system of society where only veterans can be citizens. If you saw the movie first, don't expect the book to follow it at all closely. The story is mostly told as a narrative by the hero and gets more deeply into his feelings about his experiences then having it told using a lot of dialog. Still if you're a fan of the author, you'll enjoy this story.
