Good....however

the story was good, however I was disappointed that it was so short and not as well developed as many of the other books in the series. I would have preferred that it was worked into one of the other books in the series, making it longer and perhaps developed more. As always, Lacy Williams is a favorite of mine.

This series was almost impossible to put aside. They take you through every emotion and are very inspiring. Faith... family and friends ...walking through life together through many challenges, heartbreak and joys.

Never a good place to stop!

I've always enjoyed this author. Each story is gripping and it's very hard to take a break...would love to listen non-stop...but sometimes one has other things that need to happen! no disappointments with this author.

Overcomer!

The human spirit to survive harsh, degrading circumstances, cruel influences in a young life, sprinkled with unfamiliar kindnesses ( when deciding to break free) defines this young girl's life. Definitely a good read to press into .

Will always be a favorite!

This is one of those books you will never forget. the strength one finds in adversity is amazing. We are meant to be free and live ... how well the author brings this to light and to life. Immerse yourself in a wonderfully narrated.story of people who feared, who were brave, determined, persevered in terrible hardship, deprivation, and loss. Peoples' indomitable spirits of courage, survival, compassion and love will challenge you to do better or build on the strengths you already possess.

Deeply moving

At first I struggled with the "rawness" of the story being told, but as I continued on, it became evident that this was "real life" for the individuals around which the series evolved. I experienced sadness, being angry, a desire to see wrongs righted, frustration with repeated patterns in family dynamics, joy, relief, an attitude of cheering each one on and rejoicing in victories as they occurred. Yes...sometimes victories did not happen. Such a good series...I highly recommend it...prepare yourself for a wild ride through a family's history. It's worth the time spent to get to the end...I would just advise you to determine the age appropriateness, before recommending it to teens...only you will be able to determine this, upon reading ...it would be, in my opinion, too much for a younger teen....if older (say 17-18 on) it has a value in lessons taught and learned in life's journey.
