Historia
In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

Writer has shocking lack of real world knowledge
Revisado: 08-23-24
This writer definitely needs to stay away from anything law related. She does things like having a lawyer saying he will need to work on reaching a plea agreement after he enters a guilty plea and that he will have to worry about a murder charge if the victim dies after a plea to aggravated assault. Duh, have you heard of double jeopardy. Somehow the story compels some interest even though the characters are absurdly unreal. And while individuals can have multi faceted personalities it is jarring how the author creates one persona for one part of the story and the opposite persona for another part of the story for the same character.

Historia
In the town of Ada, Oklahoma, Ron Williamson was going to be the next Mickey Mantle. But on his way to the Big Leagues, Ron stumbled, his dreams broken by drinking, drugs, and women. Then, on a winter night in 1982, not far from Ron’s home, a young cocktail waitress named Debra Sue Carter was savagely murdered. The investigation led nowhere. Until, on the flimsiest evidence, it led to Ron Williamson. The washed-up small-town hero was charged, tried, and sentenced to death - in a trial littered with lying witnesses and tainted evidence....

So Help Me God relates the compelling story of Chief Justice Roy Moore, including his controversial Ten Commandments displays, his refusal to obey an unlawful order of a federal court, and why the critical legal and political question of our time is, 'Can the state acknowledge God?'

I think that this book is worth reading. It is not the most interesting reading even though the story it tells is in fact interesting.

Historia
The catastrophic power of a giant hurricane can raise coastal waves 30 feet high and blow through houses at devastating speeds. For TV meteorologist Perry Stuart, however, such predictions are hypothetical, as he chiefly predicts periods of English drizzle - until a fellow forecaster offers him a Caribbean hurricane-chasing ride in a small airplane as a holiday diversion. But a frightening accident teaches Stuart more secrets than wind speeds.

Historia
First published in 1970, nine years after Hemingway's death, this is the story of an artist and adventurer, a man much like Hemingway himself. Beginning in the 1930s, Islands in the Stream follows the fortunes of Thomas Hudson, from his experiences as a painter on the Gulf Stream island of Bimini through his antisubmarine activities off the coast of Cuba during World War II. Hemingway is at his mature best in this beguiling tale.

good sense of Cuba
Revisado: 01-30-10
I spend some time in Cuba and this book does a good job of capturing what I have seen. I think Hemingway can be very good or very bad and this falls in the middle.

Historia
In this explosive book, Francis Schaeffer shows why morality and freedom have crumbled in our society. He calls for a massive movement - in government, law, and all of life - to reestablish our Judeo-Christian foundation and turn the tide of moral decadence and loss of freedom. A Christian Manifesto is literally a call for Christians to change the course of history - by returning to biblical Truth and by allowing Christ to be Lord in all of life.
