Enjoyable!
Revisado: 07-28-24
The Unmaking of June Farrow was a summer win for me. I initially started on Audible and then switched to Kindle so I could get to the ending faster.
For those comparing with The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, I'm not in that camp. I think Addie LaRue was more of a literary book.

Historia
Introverts have gifts for the church and the world. But many churches tend to be extroverted places where introverts are marginalized. Some Christians end up feeling like it's not as faithful to be an introvert. Adam McHugh shows how introverts can live and minister in ways consistent with their personalities. He explains how introverts and extroverts process information and approach relationships differently and how introverts can practice Christian spirituality in ways that fit who they are.

Important!
Revisado: 06-10-24
This book resonated with me even more than Quiet. Quiet changed my life because I discovered what had been "wrong" with me my entire life. Introverts in the church narrowed the field even more. The most intensely important area of my life--my relationship with God--which in turn means I need to attend church.
Very, very good book. If nothing else--it helped show me I am not alone.

Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

Crying as I Type
Revisado: 05-10-24
I found the story to be finely crafted. It had to unfold at its own pace and the ending left me well satisfied.
This story does have some terrifying violence. Son of Man is evil and belongs married in the pit to Cathy from East of Eden.

Hitherto unseen literary evidence reveals a new dimension to Isaiah's prophecy that uses Israel's ancient history as an allegory of an end-time scenario. Isaiah's Hebrew gospel preempts the New Testament by teaching the path through which God empowers his children to ascent to the highest heaven.

Just had to get used to narrator and pretty soon I didn’t hear him-only the message.
I have the book in print and would often reread what listened to.
So grateful for this book.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Exquisite
Revisado: 09-27-18
Covers are important to me, and my first impression was an annoyance because of the coloring similarity with The Great Alone. Because of this I nearly bypassed this superlative book. Strictly on a whim, I purchased the audio version and listened as I spent two days painting my kitchen. Being so enraptured with the story I also bought the Kindle version so that I could finish last night.
The writing is superior, I learned and appreciated the marsh (but didn't feel like facts were shoved down my throat), I enjoyed the poetry throughout, and I don't believe I will ever forget the story of the praying mantis.
Ms. Owens, you nailed it!!!!!!!! Thank you for these past days in your perfect novel!

Well Written but Painful
Revisado: 09-05-18
If I had not been painting my hallway while I listened, I am not sure I could have completed this story, not because it wasn't well written, but just because it hurt to hear. I am glad I did finish because in the end I am left believing that Eleanor IS completely fine.

Modern Mrs. Darcy Recommendation
Revisado: 08-06-18
One of the joys of this book was Mr. Bragg's reading; which made every chapter a Southern pleasure.
My husband and I are traveling from humid Fayetteville, North Carolina to equally sweaty Memphis, Tennessee next week, and I have already told him to be ready, as I've got an audiobook he's going to love. I can't imagine a more appropriate choice. My Southern husband is going to be nodding his head and trying to match every story of Mr. Bragg's with one of his own.
Thank you for sharing your talent, Mr. Bragg!
