Historia
Heinrich Himmler was an unremarkable-looking man. Yet he was Hitler's top enforcer, in charge of the Gestapo, the SS, and the so-called Final Solution. We can only wonder, as Peter Longerich asks, how such a banal personality could attain such a historically unique position of power. How could the son of a prosperous Bavarian Catholic public servant become the organizer of a system of mass murder spanning the whole of Europe? In the first comprehensive biography of this murderous enigma, Longerich answers those questions with a superb account of Himmler's inner self and outward acts.

Monotone for days….
Revisado: 03-03-25
The voice actor is unbelievable. I couldn’t finish this one, despite breaks and numerous tries, not to mention genuine interest. How a voice actor could maintain a monotone for the duration defies logic.

Historia
The Chernobyl Disaster, which occurred in late April 1986, was the worst nuclear accident in history. It not only caused widespread radioactive contamination, but even more importantly, it claimed many lives and caused panic worldwide about the safety of nuclear power. In short, it changed the face of nuclear energy globally.

Not worth it
Revisado: 10-06-24
Not worth the credit nor discounted price. This is someone’s sophomore year English essay. There is absolutely nothing in this book that adds to existing credible work available. Instead of facts and figures, the author references vagaries. There are also factual inaccuracies, such as the claim that firefighters died on scene at the accident. Two people died that day, pump operator Valery Khodemchuk, who died immediately following the explosion, and Kostyantyn Perchuk, who was badly burned and irradiated and succumbed to his injuries later that morning in hospital. All the other deaths officially attributed to the accident occurred weeks later, as firefighters, nuclear engineers, and one security officer, in hospital and in spite of all the treatment available from radiation specialists in Moscow and from a US hematologist who assisted with bone marrow transplants for affected patients also succumbed to their radiation exposure.
Very very disappointing purchase.
