Historia
Building on the ideas introduced in his New York Times best-selling book, For White Folks Who Teach in the Hood, Christopher Emdin introduces an alternative educational model that will help students (and teachers) celebrate ratchet identity in the classroom. Ratchetdemic advocates for a new kind of student identity - one that bridges the seemingly disparate worlds of the ivory tower and the urban classroom.

It's useless to me
Revisado: 02-28-23
It starts off in addressing a problem which doesn't seem related to "reimagining academic success". I cannot relate to the 5 star ratings filling the main page, seems like the reviewers are biased. I can't even bear to hear the narration, it's like someone's shouting "ratchetdemic, ratchetdemic, ratchetdemic!"
Couldn't get past the introduction. Before telling me what the educator will be able to do (which I couldn't understand) , tell me what's the problem being solved!

If the past is prologue - what if the prologue never happened? When a team of scientists attempts to rewrite history, the story of the present turns out to have an ending they didn’t see coming. Over and over.

The perfect neighborhood can be the perfect place to hide… Who wouldn’t want to live in Brighton Hills? This exclusive community on the Oregon coast is the perfect mix of luxury and natural beauty. Stunning houses nestle beneath mighty Douglas firs, and lush backyards roll down to the lakefront. It’s the kind of place where neighbors look out for one another. Sometimes a little too closely…

5 stars all around
Revisado: 10-09-22
Superb story. Some parts of it could've been handled in a better manner, but it was riveting and kept my attention throughout. Very difficult to find such stellar works in the days of easy publishing. I have so many half listens in audible, this was a joy to have found and finished. I'll watch this author.
The performance is good, not sure about all the negative reviews. Listen to it at 2x and its wonderful.
I highly recommend this audio book.

In a not-so-distant future, a deadly pandemic has forced the world into social isolation. Confined to their homes, millions now survive off drone-delivered food packages and online-only interactions. It’s an especially lonely life for John Chambers, a drone shipment coordinator for the monolithic Chum Corporation. Trapped in his dead-end job and having just turned 40, John’s started spending more time grinding in virtual reality MMORPGs than he does grinding for his real-world job--and that hasn’t gone unnoticed by human resources!

Poor storyline. No real action.
Revisado: 07-04-21
It was a like a high school essay. Story line doesn't make much sense. Was a struggle to finish this, I was hoping it would get better, but it only kept going downwards. Looks like the author is a voice actor for audible, and decided to try his hand at writing while at his main job.
The performance of the cast was at least a saving grace.
I started reading this after reading 3 parts of Awaken Online which, though it has started to become repetitive at least had a character definition and evolution, a better story line.
I would recommend that you don't waste your time and money.

Terrible story. Too slow for words
Revisado: 08-18-19
I can see why this book has such negative reviews. A person travels back in time, happens to catch a flu just before leaving (why was this necessary, and she recovers fine due to boosters she received before her time travel and no other medication except 14th century home remedies while in the present people are dying even though they have access to medicines and technologies due to scientific advances in humankind) , goes to a period where the people shouldn't have any resistance to the flu she's carrying, people don't catch it.. This stupidity just goes on and on throughout the book.
There are irritating characters. There's Mr. Gilchrist who keeps repeating that it was all Mr. Dumworthy's fault that his technician Badri Chaudhari (who, it's not clear is a Pakistani or Indian) (and the narrator did a terrible job of pronunciation of names) was working while stoned, and then when it turns out that he's down with flu, that it's still his fault that he showed him to report to work without checking his medical records after a trip to Pakistan. Badri keeps repeating something's wrong over and over without getting to the point.
I'm 6 hours in and quitting.

1 hour in, story seems to be going nowhere.
Revisado: 06-19-19
I read a Wikipedia summary after this book has been sitting in my library for a few months, so I started hearing this book. The narration was tolerable, the story didn't seem to be moving. I couldn't fathom why I bought this. So I read a few reviews here and on goodreads and still can't bring myself to like the story concept.
This popped up in a daily deal, and seemed to have thousands of positive reviews, so I decided to purchase it. That's probably not the way to buy books, I should probably stick to genres I enjoy rather than exploring based on reviews.
I don't have any idea about Scottish history nor interest, and most reviews talk about forced sex, historical romance.
I am not enjoying this book and will be returned today.

Recipient of the 1966 Tanizaki Prize, it has been called Endo's supreme achievement" and "one of the twentieth century's finest novels". Considered controversial ever since its first publication, it tackles the thorniest religious issues of belief and faith head on. A novel of historical fiction, it is the story of a Jesuit missionary sent to seventeenth century Japan, who endured persecution that followed the defeat of the Shimabara Rebellion.

Revisado: 06-13-19
The book was only an advertisement for the author's budgeting software app YNAB. There's no learning about how to go about budgeting. Not even breaking it up in terms of categories where budgeting would fall into.
