Historia
Conraad de Rosner is a pioneering game ranger, working with dogs to protect wildlife against poachers – both ‘bushmeat’ poachers, who use cruel snares to trap animals, and criminal syndicates killing for rhinoceros horn and capturing critically endangered pangolins, the most trafficked animal in the world. Con’s life – constantly at risk from poachers, wildlife and even his own fellow rangers – has been saved on numerous occasions by his devoted canine companions.

The honesty of the storyteller was compelling. Kept me at the edge of my seat all the way through. Great real life story

What a beautifully written story of a man and his dogs’ courage, love, commitment and passion. As a South African deeply passionate about our wildlife, this story is pure inspiration. I am so grateful for people like Conraad and Anke and their amazing dogs ❤️🐕

Historia
In 2015, an American hunter named Walter Palmer shot and killed a lion named Cecil. The lion was one of dozens slain each year in Zimbabwe, which legally licenses the hunting of big cats. But Cecil’s death sparked unprecedented global outrage, igniting thousands of media reports about the peculiar circumstances surrounding this hunt. At the center of the controversy was Dr. Andrew Loveridge, the zoologist who had studied Cecil for eight years. In Lion Hearted, Loveridge pieces together, for the first time, the fascinating life and murky details of this beloved lion’s slaying.

Not all heroes wear capes
Revisado: 06-09-24
Andrew Loveridge is in my opinion the best lion behavioural biologist in the world and this book is one of its outcomes. His studies and stories are the result of deep scientific knowledge meeting a profound love of lions and the need to conserve them as an apex species.
I have read his book multiple times and continue to view it as a master piece.

For six years Jim and Jamie Dutcher lived intimately with a pack of wolves, gaining their trust as no one has before. In this book the Dutchers reflect on the virtues they observed in wolf society and behavior. Each chapter exemplifies a principle, such as kindness, teamwork, playfulness, respect, curiosity, and compassion. Their heartfelt stories combine into a thought-provoking meditation on the values shared between the human and the animal world.

Deeply humbling and inspiring
Revisado: 03-17-24
This book is what happens when a deep love of science is combined with a deep love of nature and every individual in it, big or small.
Meticulously researched, beautifully written and even more special with Carl Safina as the narrator himself.
I read this book when it was originally published. It’s just as beautiful now as it was then. The world needs more scientists like him. It deeply humbling and inspiring.
