classic sci-fi!
Revisado: 07-07-22
Although some of the stories show signs of when they were written they definitely are not stale. Each story is thought provoking well written and thoughly enjoyable. You will marvel, cry, be surprised, and wonder what's next. If you want a good read that has somethi g for all sci fi tastes this is the volume. one note though, these tend to be novelette size and not typical short stories.

Complex Story with Thought out Back Story
Revisado: 02-09-20
Read this as a kid. It was better then. The story moves in mostly forecastable lines. Even though I had forgotten much of the storyline. The characters had the dignity and humanity to make it a successful and believable (within its genre framework) piece of work.

Historia
"Storm Over Warlock" combines science fiction with fantasy, technology with witchcraft. Shann Lantee is lucky to be alive. He had snuck out of the small Terran base on the planet Warlock in the Circe system to find two artificially evolved wolverines, Taggi and his mate Togi, and bring them back to the base before anyone notices that they are missing. While he is gone, a force of Throgs, implacably hostile insectoid aliens, attacks the base and kills all of its occupants.

Great story
Revisado: 01-03-20
As with all Norton books I feel that I am on a journey. I love traveling with Simon as he defends Es and learns to trust and communicate with his witch. I continually am amazed at how Norton can perfectly portray relationships. Truly a master author.

Historia
Our universe is ruled by physics, and faster-than-light travel is not possible - until the discovery of The Flow, an extradimensional field we can access at certain points in space-time that transports us to other worlds, around other stars. Humanity flows away from Earth, into space, and in time forgets our home world and creates a new empire, the Interdependency, whose ethos requires that no one human outpost can survive without the others. It's a hedge against interstellar war - and a system of control for the rulers of the empire.

Evil Characters
Revisado: 02-25-18
Great plot, character development and insight into humanity. That is if your premise is that most people are grasping, hideous monsters. The book is set up in the classic good guys versus the world scenario. To emphasize the point John uses a lot of profanity. That is why he gets a 3 star review from me. It was too much, and he is a good enough writer that he didn't have to use this type of shortcut. A lot of people would disagree with me and I am sure he did it intentionally as a character development choice. Just made it hard to listen to as an audio book, might have been different had I read it.

Long and Satisfying

Suspense, foreshadowing, plot twists you name it. A great read.
The only draw back is the length. It is hard to put down and interferes with life.

Beware!
Revisado: 07-02-17
What disappointed you about Generation Warriors?
My biggest disappointment was the sound quality of the recording. It sounded muffled and boxy. Anytime that there was any road noise in my car I had a hard time making out the dialogue.
Would you recommend Generation Warriors to your friends? Why or why not?
Well the quality of the recording was just too distracting. It made following the story just that much harder.
What didn’t you like about Constance Towers’s performance?
Because of the sound quality of the recording, it took awhile for the "voices" of the different characters to register. I think if the sound engineering were better, I would have enjoyed the performance just fine.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Historia
One hundred years before Ender's Game, the aliens arrived on Earth with fire and death. Earth Afire by Orson Scott Card and Aaron Johnston is the story of the First Formic War. Victor Delgado beat the alien ship to Earth, but just barely. Not soon enough to convince skeptical governments that there was a threat. They didn't believe that until space stations and ships and colonies went up in sudden flame. And when that happened, only Mazer Rackham and the Mobile Operations Police could move fast enough to meet the threat.
