Historia
Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers. One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he barely knows - a man his mother claimed was dangerous. Uncle Randolph tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god. The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday.

So NOT a Riordan book the way I am used to them.
Revisado: 11-29-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The narration is awful. I have all of the other series books (Percy Jackson; Jason Grace; Carter and Sadie Kane), and this book does not seem like a Riordan book other than the detail he puts into the historical/factual information (the gods, the worlds, etc.). The narrator was awful. I am one of those that didn't like the narrator for House of Hades and Blood of Olympus, but this was (I am stunned to say it) worse than those.
What could Rick Riordan have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
There was too much storyline with all of the intertwining. Not sure how he could have narrowed that down, but that would have helped.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Christopher Guetig?
I have been and will continue to be fans of Joshua Swanson and Jesse Bernstein (whose voices just relate to Riordan for me), but no other ideas for narrators...
