Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Have Will…will travel
Revisado: 02-08-23
This is a gr8 listen & I took it with me EVERYWHERE…
There are very few books that I have read or listened 2 that explained so many life truths as Will. I appreciated the authenticity of his words & many of his life lessons resonated deeply in me. I believe the words he spoke impacted me on soul level bc they were said in the author’s voice, giving life 2 his experiences & make them all the more powerful. It gave me pause & made me more aware of something I always knew but often 4get, that people(stars) are just as human as the avg person & that we are all flawed but it is what we choose 2 do with our lives flaws & all that either makes us shine as we were meant 2 or causes us 2 merely exist bc we allowed our flaws 2 define us. I think whoever gives this a listen will (no pun intended) come away with some very good life lessons.

Historia
Neal Karlen was the only journalist Prince granted in-depth press interviews to for more than a dozen years, from before Purple Rain to when the artist changed his name to an unpronounceable glyph. Karlen interviewed Prince for three Rolling Stone cover stories, wrote “3 Chains o’ Gold”, Prince’s “rock video opera”, as well as the star’s last testament. According to Prince's former fiancée, Susannah Melvoin, Karlen was “the only reporter who made Prince sound like what he really sounded like”.

Heartfelt Reminiscence
Revisado: 06-11-22
I found Neal Karlen’s book to be the most honest telling of a “friendship” as backed by his evidence of tapes from years covering Prince for Rolling Stone.
He gives the most eye opening revelations into one of the most secretive personalities that had ever been a part of pop culture, and he does it from a place of genuine respect for Prince and admiration for his talent.
Ultimately, he allows the reader to see Prince as HUMAN & not just some untouchable, perfect, unfathomable musical genius. This book should be listened to simply because the author wrote about the subject as he really was, not as this mythological character.
