Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gabe - he's such a precious gem. I adore him.

What does Janice Enright bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice and accent is stellar. She sounds so prim and proper, but it just adds an extra layer of naughty to the story. She says words like "Tomato" and "seedy" in a delightful way.

Her male voice is awesome, as well. "You want it you slutty little bookworm." (that did make me giggle)

This is the first audible book I've listened to that I really loved hearing.

Any additional comments?

I think I need to admit I'm partial to Stein. I've read all of her books, and I love her stream of conscious writing. This was my favorite book of hers (though there are several favorites) and in the future I desperate hope that Janice Enright does all of her books. Just a perfect match.

Not so thrilling in audio - which is disapointing

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would encourage someone to think carefully before buying this audiobook. You either love her writing style read out loud, or you don't.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Control by Charlotte Stein

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed their email exchanges more than anything else. I do appreciate the more emotionally charged scenes related to his trauma.

Did Fifty Shades of Grey inspire you to do anything?

This series inspired me to write romance and erotica fiction.

Any additional comments?

Honestly, I loved 50 Shades when I read it (at release of the 3rd book, I read them all). I drooled over it. That was some time ago, though. Last year I bought all three books through audible because I spent a lot of time traveling.

However, hearing the books highlights issues from the author. Ana overuses juvenile slang ("Holy Shit," "Oh My" - and things of this nature become repetitive while listening), I think the advice of 'read your books out loud when you write' should have been heeded by James when she penned a lot of this because it's outright obnoxious to listen to at times.

Hearing some of the scenes read out loud was just disturbing (his attitude toward her regarding certain issues, the punishment scenes - in audio, I could not listen to it). .As a result, I couldn't get through it. I've tried countless times to listen to the audio book (since I bought all three upfront) but I just can't enjoy it like I did when I read it. I likely never will.

Now, some of my issues might just be the audio format in general. I have to pay attention, and often found myself immersed in whatever else I was doing and I missed bits and pieces. It's an effort to listen to a book read out loud - easy to tune out like radio.
