The story had potential if it were longer and allowed to elaborate more on several things.

I was very disappointed in the narration because it was so stilted. I actually questioned a few times if it was AI.

Great story but no steam.

This was a great start to the series which gets even better in book 2 where the world building expands even more, focusing on a new couple.
If you are looking for a bunch of steamy scenes, this is not the book for you. There were several moments of build up only to cut to the morning after. This seemed a little contrary to the cover and summary but if you’re looking for a good PG-13 romance with stubborn characters and a HEA, this is a good series.

Quick hit of romance

These four stand alone stories are great if you need some quick hits of romance. The storylines are not complicated, but have the right amount of funny and drama to make them a good listen (and of course heat!).

Bad Narration

The overall storyline is descent, but the narration was distracting. The whole book (including the rest of the series) is read by a woman. While most female narrators at least make distinct voices (for better or worse) between characters, this narrator did not make any effort to change the inflection or tone at all. This made it difficult to keep the dialogue straight at times. For example, the character Richard is supposed to be a “tortured” character, but the way she reads him sounds like a Disney princess. If you can get past the narration, the overall story is intriguing. I am going to give book two a try since all books are in the audible escape package.

Funny and Entertaining PG Romance

Although there is plenty of sexual tension and kisses, this is a PG regency romance. It was very entertaining and had a lot of great banter between the main characters. Supporting characters were great as well. Overall, a great read and I never got bored.

If you’re just in it for the sex...

If you’re just looking for a compilation of sex scenes, then this is a book for you. Otherwise, the storyline doesn’t really go anywhere. Technically, I think this is is supposed to be a cliffhanger so you read the rest of the series but I was so underwhelmed by the storyline that I am not continuing. Could have been a lot better with more storyline development.

Horrible Narration

I feel like I might have been able to finish the book if it weren’t for the terrible “Scottish” accent. It was really anything but close to sounding Scottish.
After reading the other summaries of the rest of the series, it sounds like an interesting take on lovers finding each other through the ages. However, I would recommend reading the book(s) and not listening.

Actual history behind the story!

This was a great story and keeps you on your toes as to what is going to happen next. If you like historical romance this book is for you! Although liberties were taken for the sake of the story, the author actually takes the time at the end of each book to give you the real historical context behind the story.

The narrator did a great Scottish accent and the amount of steamy scenes was Goldilocks - not too little, not too many, but just right :)

Have tissues ready...

Have your tissues ready because the second part to Ren and Della’s story is full of ups, downs and everything in between. I loved this series, but after finishing it I recommend going for something light hearted. Maybe a romantic comedy. Five star ending to the book and the narration made it come to life more than any other audiobook I’ve listed to which is a lot!!! :)

Once you get over the narration...

Once you get past the robotic sounding narration, it’s an interesting story. Be warned that it is a cliffhanger, but the dynamic between the main characters has me curious enough to see how the series turns out. The main male character, Shepard, is shown as a true villain and the story really hasn’t given him any redeeming qualities yet. However, I just have this feeling that his true (good) colors have yet to be shown and will be listening to the rest of the series to find out.
